I'll tell you what predestination is, but try to figure out the rest on your own.
Anyway, predestination was the Puritan belief that people were "chosen" to be saved/"go to heaven". Not amount of good deeds could make someone into a "chosen" that would go to heaven after death, because people were pre-destined into that role. However, just because you thought you were one of the predestined, didn't mean you could sin/commit evil (AKA, they still needed to act in good faith)
In the church, people who believed themselves as predestined (of course, you could never really know) would push away those they believed to not be chosen.
Now, see if you can figure out how this information would have impacted colonization and relations between colonists. As for Puritanism as a whole, try looking in your book/packet.
