More Dragonball?

Do we really need more Dragonball universe after all these years? Personally, I'd only watch/read if Toriyama was on board and it didn't give into fanboy pressure and have Goku beat all the villains help for some stupid reason.

He wrote and drew it every week for eleven years, sans original artwork for the show and films and other merchandise.

Well, there hasn't been any new Dragonball--aside from this special--in eleven years.

As the recent special and even GT proved, Dragon Ball just can't continue without becoming a parody of itself. The absurd power scalade has gone so over the top, it just can't go further without looking ridiculous.

Then again, the alternative is to restart from zero, but do we really need to get YET ANOTHER retelling of the early Dragon Ball?

Which is another reason why DBGT wasn't that great. It's funny I hated how weak everyone was in DBGT, yet I also hated how incredibly powerful the Saiyans and Majin Buu were in the Buu Saga. It had just gotten ridiculous.

Well, Vegeta was training on 300G back before he became a Super Saiyan, even. I don't thnk the power was 'ridiculous' considering how much they worked for it and Boo was...well, magic.

Vegetto on the other hand is right up there with Pre-Crisis Superman.

Do I ever.

Agreed on the Goku angle. That's the ONE thing I hated, and apparently Toriyama hated, if memory serves, as well. I'd like to see character arcs on the others as well....Krillin and Vegita learning to work together to defeat some big bad monster, for instance...

The thing is Kuririn would only get in the way. He had a battle power of 10,000 throughout the latter half of the Namek arc whereas Piccolo had one of one million or in that neigrabroadorhood. However, in four years Piccolo--even pre-merger with Kami--leapt all of the way to a battle power somewhere in the neigrabroadorhood of over one hundred fifty million (we know this because the Artificial Humans were more powerful than Freeza, who topped out at one hundred twenty million while Son's original SSj battle power topped out at one hundred fifty million). The humans were terribly out paced by the end of Namek alone.

Hence where most of the comedy would come in. I could see the story now. Krillin trying to prove how usefull he can still be, even with all the SSJ's around .

Here's the thing, the man's nigh forty, FINALLY married, and has a kid. He's got a brain and wouldn't let his pride get in the way not to mention a foe like Boo was literally millions of times more powerful than him, obviously.

Well the anime is already pretty accurate to the Manga so there is not much you can do to make a "new" series interesting. Also continuing the story after Z or GT would make it seem kind of redundant since it would only be more of the same "bigger threat defeats everyone, goku and frienRAB are able to defeat him". All animes abuse the whole "the new threat is many times more powerful than the last" but Dragon Ball abused it the most.

Having a show with their oRABprings being the new "generation" would also be boring IMO. However what might work would be an OVA series not a long one just a few episodes like maybe 13 for Dragon Balll 26 for DBZ etc having all the major story arcs with new animation. Counting they're kept short it would allow people to enjoy their favorite arcs/characters with new animation without it being everything all over again since they'd be so fast. The show is pretty old after all and would make it have a new generation of fans.

Another thing that could be interesting would be a series of a bunch of "What if" storylines that only last a few episodes from the whole DB universe. The What If storylines on the DBZ videogames are always the most popular counting everyone knows what has happened already and like to see new alternatives.

Honestly, I have to agree with you said, I wouldn't mind seeing all of the story arcs with new animation, and What if scenarios

I think that's the only way they can get away with putting our more DBZ Merchandise like that. What with games being released for the PS2/PS3/Wii/Whatever, and basically retelling the story over and over (like the previous PS3 game not giving the full story so a second game can finish that off), it'd just be really redundant.

I think if you released small OVAs where they showed the more important fights over DBZ like Goku vs Vegeta, Freeza, and all of those big baddies. That'd be nice, but having the lead ups, and what not redone as well? Big waste of time, and it'd just push people away as it's already made a ton of cash. I'd watch the main fights of the Cell Saga such as Goku/Cell and Gohan/Cell. I would not watch Goku taking his driver's license test.

That would be interesting, they do this with Lupin too. OAV or a new movie comes out pretty much once a year.
Kinda keeps the characters alive.
I agree, Akira would have little to do with it.

That would be the perfect idea to make new OVA's of the classic DBZ fights. Say like a Goku vs. Vegeta fight like you mentioned or a Gohan vs Cell fight in an OVA. It would be perfect with all new animation. That's what Toei should do to keep the property alive. Some new specials would be nice to.
