Moped for 16 or car for 17?

I've been speaking to my Dad last night about a mooped but he said to me it's a waste of time and he thinks i should get a car when im 16 to do up for when im 17. What do you think?

I was also thinking about safety aswell with these stupid people on the road now days its really more a car then lol but i still want your opinions?
 
Get a car. Moped sounds fun, but in a few years time, when you want to go places, and take people places, will a moped seem that great ? If you just want to fool around then get a moped, but a car will be a lot more useful, and is actually so much cooler x
