As far as I know in the UK it's all ok as long as you're over 18.
I have noticed signs though say..."If you appear under 21, you must provide ID to say that you are over 18"." Well something along those lines anyway.

My friend said he'd give me 50% discount on each 0.5l, so I'm sticking with the moonshine. :happysad: Please pray for me at night, going blind would suck nipples big time. :sad:
 
That's right, yeh. You have to be 18 to drink, but the guidline for checkout assistants is "If they don't look 21, check if they are 18".

It's similar with cigarettes too. The legal age to buy cigarettes is 16, but they will ID you if you don't look 18+. Well, they are supposed to.
 
I don't understand. Why do you have to appear two years older than you have to be?

Virginia's the same as Uber's. They sell all the hard liquor at ABCs.
 
Well, in PA liquor is pretty much....water. And by that I mean you drink it more than soda. I drank when I was 13. Had to stop though, whenever I even smell the stuff I gag. Wasn't really a problem till.....well I can't remember, but it was a really great night.
 
i'm a law student. the law on alcohol in the UK is actually more complicated than you think. believe it or not, you can actually legally drink at 5, yes 5. you are not allowed into a bar, or to buy alcohol from an off licence till your 18, but restaurants and other places that are not 'primarily for the sale of alcoholic beverages' you are allowed to drink alcohol provided someone over 18 buys it for you.
you can order alcohol yourself at 14. this is provided you have it with food and are with your parents.
you can order it with food but without your parents at 16.
the full drinking age is 18.
supermarkets sell all types of alcohol, theres no limit on percentage. grocery stores also sell alcohol, but they have to have a licence (hence 'off licence'), and spirits and stuff have to be sold behind the counter (cant be on the shelf).
 
I know Uberskippy already commented about all alcohols being poisons blah blah blah...

But, just to drive the point home, methanol ISN'T something you want to be getting drunk on. It will take you five times as much methanol as opposed to Ethanol, and five times as much means of course, blindness and/or death! WEEEEEEEE!

You don't, it's just a guideline to help staff at shops on who to ID.



Yeh, that's right, but a lot of places don't even know that I don't think. I would guess that if a 16 year old took his girl out for dinner and ordered a glass of wine they'd ID him and then say no.
