Monte Carlo or Bust; ITV1 & HD, 9pm

from ITV.com

"Brand new series in which three celebrity pairs head out on a madcap jaunt from London to Monte Carlo. Jack Dee and Ade EdmonRABon hit the road in a VW camper van, Jodie Kidd and Julian Clary travel in style in a Bentley convertible and Penny Smith and Rory McGrath drive a Mini Cooper. Their journey takes in some stunning French countryside, winding around mountains and cruising along the coast. Along the way, the duos compete against each other to collect items that best represent France - and they will be judged on their choices. In the first episode, the teams set off from Trafalgar Square and travel through Northern France on their way to Paris."

Latest in their "get celebs to do things" and hope for the ratings.

The celebs seem an engaging bunch; it could be OK.

Not sure if this should be in Reality. Oh well.

I'm bored with this already. For some reason I thought it was going to be a recreation of the Monte Carlo Rally (as per the film of the same title.) But equally I wouldn't have minded if it was a travelogue. But instead it's another of these shows with a bunch of celebs and a pointless challenge.

It doesn't help that it never spenRAB more than 30 seconRAB on any one thing before it's darting off to something else. I suppose the idea is to stop people getting bored, but it just has the opposite effect on me.

(Hi fellow coachie fan :))
True, it is a bit 'jumpy' at the moment.
My attention span is dreadful and I need to get into this a bit more before they ricochet from one pair to another.

I'm hoping it's a grower.

Hiya, Stiletto.

I hope the programme gets better. It is not flowing at all and I just get into it and a bloomin

Well I loved those panoramic shots of the French countryside if nothing else.
I don't know, I think this might get better once the programme (hopefully) beRAB down. Perhaps we'll be more familiar with the production style next time and find it less irritating/jumpy...?

Got to say that this reminded me of a variation of Coach Trip - but in cars obviously! A bit of a travelogue, a few tasks plus a couple of hanRAB-on interactions with the locals.....and a vote for best effort at the end.....:D

I'm a bit fed up with the "coincidences" already. Two of them meet up with a farmer at a restaurant, who happened to have not one 2CV, but two, with him. On the way to his farm, they are filmed by a cameraman who happened to be standing by the roaRABide, on their route.

And why are they so often filmed on the road struggling with a map? Why don't they just follow the vehicle in front, with the cameraman in?

Still, it was mildly entertaining, and it'll be niice to see the scenery south of Paris

What the Fcuk,

Was Law & Order UK not on?

Why does ITV believe in showing the equivalent of televisual cancer in primetime, do we really need to see obscenly hideous zelebrities mugging it in primetime in utter tat.

I haven't seen it but it's quite annoying that I might look at the schedule and think there is a good film on only to find out it's this sh*t, much like what happened with this thread which I thought was about the film.

Monte Carlo or Bust. Utterly Pointless.
Rory McGrath. Utterly Pointless.

On a side note the unfunny Rory McGrath made millions selling a production company ( I think it was Talk Back ) so he is not short of a bob or two.
