Monsters, Inc 2 confirmed

I find it really tough to rank the Pixar films, because they're all so brilliant. Personal preference though: Cars and Finding Nemo are my least favourites.

I loved Monsters Inc. but it ended perfectly so I'm nervous about the prospect of a sequel. That said, Toy Story 2 is an absolutely brilliant film in its own right, so Pixar can do sequels justice.

My absolute favourites are the two Toy Story films, Wall-E, Up and Monsters Inc. That's not to say I don't love The Incredibles, Ratatouille and A Bug's Life too.

Did I forget any?

I'd love to see some sort of story where Mike and Sully go back to see Boo, but she's all grown up and has a child of her own - but she has become a popular children's author writing stories about friendly monsters.. one who would no doubt be called "Kitty". ;)

Love Monsters Inc. Excited about the sequel - but it doesnt really need one - the story tied off quite nicely. I just hope they dont balls it up just to make a few bucks.

The Incredibles would be more suited to a sequel.

Ooh this is exciting! We used to call our little girl Boo when she was little. :D Monsters Inc is my favourite animation, closely followed by Finding Nemo. Hope they don't spoil it.

I get the feeling that due to the corporate, big business, wring every last dollar out of every idea approach of Disney, we will probably get sequels to all of Pixars back catalogue. Not as much risk as coming up with new ideas.

pity about the Newt movie being shelved, and i guessing Brave is the new name for The Bear (or was it The Princess) and the Bow (or what ever it was going to be called).

Pixar where so against sequals once, they where forced to do Toy Story 2 almost. and they are also going to be realising 2 movies a year soon, which i dont think is a good thing.

Heard it 2 days ago, and I'm surprised it took them this long!
I always thought if they were to make a sequel I wanted to see what Boo looked like grown up and that the monsters would do if they met Boo's child or something like that.

I think Pixar have gone down the 'sequels' route because they've shofted up to two releases a year and aren't quite confident enough to produce two new films each year to start with. Tory Story 3, Cars 2 and now MI2 will get them through the transition phase without risking too much financially. The sequels are bound to be big hits and will be easier to produce. I's expect the trend to continue with Increadibles 2 being the most obvious sequel to do next. After that... Wall-E is the only other PIXAR I can see getting a sequel. Then we're into Cars 3 territory.

Personally I thought Monsters Inc was one of Pixar's weakest films when I first saw it... but my daughter has been watching it regularly along with Finding Nemo & Wall-E and I have to say I'm appreciating it a lot more now. The animation is some of the best Pixar has done which is amazing considering how early this film was made in Pixar's short history.
