Monster Ovals getting louder!!!!

I called V&H and asked about it, the tech said that they will get louder with use/age and there is packing which will compress.
He suggested wrapping them in fiberglass muffler packing.
There is a screw under the end cap which you can remove, then the baffle will slide out.
I've been through this process with other slip ons and it never works right.
Anybody want set of rumbling MO's before the go on Ebay PM me.
 
I've got the stage 2 103 on mine and the pipes sound better everyday-still not too loud cruising down the slab but definitely get your attention when you twist it.
 
My V&H Basics were getting pretty ratty sounding a while back. The front half of the packing was blown out. Picked up some Silent Sport packing from Fuel Moto and re-packed them. Sound is real nice now. I used the 450g bag and it was enough to do both mufflers.

cfmii - sent you a PM. If you are serious about changing out the mufflers I would be interested in your MO's.

To those who are thinking about packing for your mufflers where were you a few weeks ago when I had a brand new bag of Silent Sport for sale on here?


Bought from FM but never repacked the Rush (it is a PIA to get well used baffles "free") and ended up selling it on ebay.
 
My MOs' were getting considerably louder, turned out to be the right muffler. Found this when I replaced the head pipes with Khrome Werks, now the Left muffler is actually doing something.
