I've had Monster Ovals for two seasons and in the last couple of weeks they are definitely getting louder. Would they lose packing or would the packing get compressed?
I have about 12/14K on them.
Has anyone else notice this?

Thanks in advance,
Charlie

I think the packing is loosening up. I have about 9K on mine now and they are just getting to where I really like the sound.

I am running Dyno Tuned Jackpots not Monster Ovals but yes, I am around 9,500 miles and my pipes have been getting better as I ride !!! I wouldn't say Alot Louder but definately a better rumble ...

I've noticed this with the stock pipes, yes I said stock. At 8000 miles I had noticed a difference and now with 9500 miles there is a definite change in tone and loudness.

Mine were getting louder, then I checked the clamps and found one to be loose. You may want to do the same. It could be a "Packing" issue, but it wouldn't be good to have the pipes come loose on a ride.

Don't know about the Monster Ovals. But I had the regular Ovals on my 07 Ultra. After about 5-6K miles they definetly got louder and started popping on decel. Nothing I did would correct the decel popping. Pulled the baffles and was going to repack them. The baffles on the Ovals are sealed and not repackable. Don't know if the Monster Ovals are repackable or not. The baffles in the Ovals is a sealed unit that slips inside the muffler body.
I finally sold the Ovals to a friend, he had heard them on my bike. They did the same thing on his 08 Ultra. He finally sold them to someone else after about 600 miles on them.

Mine are not getting louder and I have 2+ seasons on them. I didnt know they have packing in them, the baffles are of course closed end type with exhaust diffused thru the side holes, I thought they were welded in
