Monster High cartoon adaption?

With the official character bios and the little diaries that come with the dolls, I think there's plenty to use for a 30 minute special. I hope the special goes well and it's picked up for a proper series. It would be nice to have a show aimed at girls that isn't about boys or going to the mall.

From what I've read, there's going to be a live action movie musical....directed by the people who made Hairspray and Chicago. Yeah.

As for something animated? I havn't heard about any plans for a show. I'm sure at some point there will be a direct to DVD movie at somepoint, but I don't think there will be a show. (personally I've seen the flash shorts and they are cute, for what they are. I think they COULD make a good show out of it, but you can make a good show out of anything if you try hard enough)

I'd personally would like to see an animated series, as long as there are guy characters who are interesting. But then again, isnt that special supposed to come out sometime around Halloween?

If this does become a series or an animated feature I hope it has the animation of the commercials and the not the flash animation of the webisodes. I think the commercials do the girls more justice appeal-wise.

The world of cartoons (kid-vid cartoons especially) is already plenty male domninated. Does Monster High really a heavy male roster in order to be interesting? It is possible for female characters to carry an entire series on their own without it becoming a "girl show", it's just that female characters have rarely been given the opportunity. As long as the main female characters are shown doing more than just obsessing over boys, shopping and giving each other makeovers, it could be fine. MS doesn't need to bring in a bunch of dudes soley for the sake of their being there.

He didn't say that the guys had to be the main characters. He said that they had to interesting, not just generic hot guy cutouts that are in most doll-based properties. It's the equivilent to hoping a shows female characters aren't just generic girly-girly cut-outs that they are in most boy marketed things. The girls can still be the main characters and take up a majority of the screen time, the guys that are there just shouldn't be boring.

Though it'd be nice if the show had traditional animation. I doubt it would be as fluid as that seen in the commercials.
I doubt they can pull that off on a tv budget.

One show this side of the atlantic (meaning I am not going to mention animes like Sailor Moon they speak for themselfs) is JEM. That was a show for girls, but dam it had stuff that boys could enjoy like action and comedy. It was very inclussive.

But that is in spite of the male characters, I loved JEM because of the action, comedy, and the deep interesting female characters. But outside of the villain Eric Raymand, the male characters were awfully dull. Like a bunch of Ken dolls, no personality at all.

Edit: HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT

I just found out Nickelodeon will air the Monster High Halloween special which premere on October 31st at 12 noon et.

Personally I think it is very late to premere it on Halloween. They should premere earlier in the month and repeat it various times till the end of the month.

I am personally sick on how everytime they do something thats aimed for girls they always do that. So my point is, if guys want to look at this(even if they do look at it) they would probably want some interesting guy characters that are likeable and fit in well with the female characters.

Out of all places, Nick gets their hands on it? They better not force any fart jokes in this, and even if they give the people who made this the okay for an animated series. I cant even picture Nick doing something like this. Its not their thing, and they just wanna make kids watch fart jokes 24/7.

Really? Not their thing? Well since this is the network that always airs the Barbie, Bratz, and My Scene movies, and since they're airing Winx Club in 2011, I think this is right up their alley and I hope if it does get turned into an animated series, it'll be great for girls and not have those boring cut out male characters, either.
