Monster High cartoon adaption?

Drummer forever

I saw a commerical for a new toy line from Martell called Monster High. A school for mosnters, most of the feature characters are female, would you want to see a cartoon adaption of this toy line or not?

The character designs are like the girls from the tv movie Scooby Doo And The Ghoul School as teenagers. Also reminds me of the manga / anime Rosario + Vampire.

Anyway who saw the commerical, would you like to see a cartoon series about it?

From what I seen the voice actors seem pretty good, if they made a series I hope they would be retained.

It looks like it could be a fun series, I might watch. If I am network or studio I would look into this as a possible series. It has protential.

Looking at the animated shorts that are on Youtube, I say they don't need to make a tv show. They're doing perfectly fine as a Flash series.
This is likely going to be the new wave of programming in the future!
Every time I see it, however, I'm reminded of the webcomic Eerie Cuties.

I wonder if it would deal with just high school adolession stories, or actully have an action show plot with villains like Winx, W.I.T.C.H., Rosario + Vampire manga.

Seriously am I the only one that gets a Scooby Doo Ghoul School vibe from these characters?

I think I would rather take my chances with Todd Kauffman's MonstroCity High; it's more-or-less the same thing. He directed Total Drama for several seasons, and while I didn't particularly enjoy the test scenes he uploaded on YouTube, at least his show wouldn't be primarily about selling merchandise. The show is still in limbo at the moment.

Somehow I doubt that the makers of Monster High have anything that ambitious in mind. If this ever did become a series, I imagine it would be basically what the product is currently: more or less Bratz with monsters.

The toy line is by Mattel, aka the Barbie company. Based on the commercial that I saw last night on Cartoon Network, Monster High is basically My Scene with monsters. I only have 2 complaints about it so far:

1. I really, really wish that we didn't have to have yet another series with high school as the primary setting, and...

2. Why is there no witch girl character? Witches are cool.

Well what they should have is mythological characters, type of creatures that everyone doesn't know about, and actual do some research to learn.

Anyway saw the shorts, question was the voice acting done in Canada? It sounds like a Candain production to me. Someone on YT said Frankie was voiced by Kate Higgens, I doubt that very much. I would be shocked if that was true.

Maybe they figure they don't have to include a witch since there are already entire franchises devoted to witches and wizards (Sabrina, Harry Potter, Wizard 101, etc.). It could also be because the selling point in Monster High is that the central characters are the daughters of famous movie monsters (Frankie is the daughter of Frankenstein's monster, Clawdeen is the daughter of the Wolfman, Draculaura is the daughter of Dracula, etc.) and there is no famous 'The Witch' character in classic monster movies.

These are mostly all takeoffs of famous Universal monsters. Also, if you note they all have a gender bending element, even the boy character is a take on Medusa, who is usually female. I guess a standard witch was just considered too bland.

I've seen this commercial a few times and it really does come off as another typical girl-centric cast in a high school setting, similar to Bratz. It didn't really seem that interesting to me. If it had its own cartoon series, I think it would probably focus on the typical problems/issues that high school setting series face. The character designs were okay, but there's nothing from the commercial that made me think that it could evolve into a series and stand out among the other series with similar premise.

I think that would be kind of off the point. The idea was to showcase on the classic Hollywood movie monsters that everyone is familiar with and don't require a ton of explanation. Everyone knows who Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and the Wolfman are, so you don't have to explain their motivations. Obscure mythological creatures doesn't really have anything to do with the premise. If Mattel wanted to have a show set in a high school for Greek or Roman mythological creatures, then that could work, but here, it would be irrelevant.

I'm all for more classic monsters in cartoons. I remember fondly the cartoons and toys of the '90s like Monster Force, Mighty Max and Monster in my Pocket. However, this seems a little "been there, done that".

Also, it would be . . . well . . . a girls' cartoon.
