Monster anime on Syfy

A better comparison would be Black Jack. It's very late-Tezuka.

Actually, the later volumes in particular did fairly dismally, apparently. But I've heard that Viz had to finish publishing Monster because of a contractual obligation.

What was the ad saying about airing 2 episodes starting Oct. 12?

Are they airing two eps in a row? Because that would be great.

Shame about the later volumes not selling as well. Monster gets even better in it's second half.

Since it takes place in Germany and about 99% of the characters are German, the fact that it's not Japanese matters very little to the overall atmosphere.

If that's what you're worried about.

Having read the manga version beforehand and enjoyed it very much, I look forward to this as I've herd the anime version even better. Also I can't wait to see people reactions here to the stroy's ''Monster'' who is one of THE MOST EVIL AND TERRIFYING VILLAINS EVER.

No. I usually watch dubbed anime, but I'd like to watch this one in Japanese since I'm trying to better my listening skills.

I would usually agree with you for anime taking place in other countries, but one I really can't stand dubbed is Hellsing. Listening to Seras in english makes me want to break stuff.

I am hyped up. Monster is one of the few shows I actually watched mostly subbed (I stopped watching the fansub around episode 60 once the dub and TV airing were announced) Here is hoping for a very good dub for Monster.

Though I still believe it would fit better on USA Network then Syfy given that Monster has very few Sci Fi elements and those it has don't become apparent until the end.

Still since my class will be over early today I actually get to catch the first two episodes of the dub. YAY.

Seras's English dub voice is OK, as I've heard much worse when it comes to annoying female voices. And the rest of the English dub cast for Hellsing is fine, especially with Crispin Freeman playing Alucard. There's nothing that I find intolerable about it at all, and its a rather good dub when compared to many other crappy ones, IMO.

Anyways, back on-topic:

I really don't mind watching an anime dubbed first as long as the voices are good. So, I'll check it out on Syfy tonight, and if I like the voices well enough, then I'll stick with watching the English dub on Ani-Mondays. However, if I don't find it to be so appealing, then I'll just go with watching the sub of the anime once I finish reading the manga (which I'm still only half-way through, ATM).

Thanks for linking me to the preview, but I'd rather just wait until the actual episodes themselves air on Syfy, and see for myself how I like it, then. I kind of feel like I'm spoiling myself a little bit whenever I see something that I've been waiting for a little bit too early.
