Mono or Stereo while using Azden SGM1X?

I am using an Azden SGM 1X shotgun micraphone with a beachtek adapter (just ordered the adapter) and I'm sure there is an option for mono and stereo. Which is better? What would you recommend?
 
The Azden SGM 1X shotgun mic is a mono mic. You will plug it into one of the XLR channels on the BeachTek XLR adapter.

If the BeachTek is in Stereo mode, the audio channel the shotgun mic is plugged into will be the audio channel with audible audio in the camcorder. The other audio channel will be silent. You *could* plug another mic in there...

If the BeachTek is in Mono mode, the same audio will be recorded to both the left and right channels in the camcorder.

Personally, I find it easier to just pan (L/R adjustments if needed) the audio in the editing software than cloning (copying the audio from the recorded channel and creating the "other" side of the audio) + panning the audio...
