I just had the honor of watching Monkeybone on Comedy Central late last night, dear god, it sounds like such a creative premise but it's complete garbage. Shoddy acting, and the animation and fantasy elements are just there...in short Monkeybone was easily the worst film I've ever seen, I honestly can't believe this film didn't get shelved or had the plug pulled on it, It was a $75 million budgeted film, how the hell did they see it being a success?....it was like a bad acid trip

It is not the worst movie ever made, I assure you. It is terrible, but not badly made enough to even be considered in that elite club.

Even the editing was terrible. We see Fraser talking to Rose McGowan about how he needs to talk to the king of sleep or something, despite he just reached Downtown about 5 minutes before that..

It certainly wasn't good, but the animated parts were fairly fun, and Chris Kattan was amusing. Granted, I saw this movie seven years ago...

Monkeybone was bad- no question...and I"m saying this after having only plopped down $5 at Target for the movie, a few years back. I later gave it to a now ex-friend of mine( no, that's NOT the reason we're no longer friends).

I kinda saw Monkeybone as being "Nightmare Before Christmas" on a hamstring budget.

Sad too- I DO like Brendan Fraser a lot.

As for the worst movie ever...yeah, it has to beat out the following, to be that:

Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Kangaroo Jack
The Darkness
The Missing
Waiting...
The Hulk
Spider-Man 3

can't really think of anything else offhand that was THAT bad, but gimme time....and take note I have yet to mention an ANIMATED flick, yet :)

The reason I hated this movie is because I hated the title character. There was nothing redeeming or even remotely likable about Monkeybone himself.

Spider-Man 3 was highly enjoyable. Maybe lacking a little in focus but still really awesome. Revenge of the Sith wasn't really that bad either.

And Monkeybone was horrible. I watched about three minutes of it on Comedy Central a few days ago and it was just terrible. The CGI was weird, the script was bad. Just... ugh.

Not the worst film ever, but it was pretty frickin' bad. Part of the problem was that it didn't even come close to living up to what it's premise offered. If Monkeybone (the character, not the film) had been as funny as he was supposed to be, the film might have been salvagable. Think Robin Williams or Eddie Murphy as the voice of Monkeybone instead of John Turturro, and you can see how it might be improved.

On the other hand, the movie is of historic significance because it marks the only time so far that Chris Kattan has done anything even remotely funny on film.

And let me add to that and say that this thread is about Monkeybone, not the worst film ever (if you believe them to not be the same). I have changed the title to reflect that, let's stick with the more narrow topic.
