We were at the beach this weekend and our kids were feeding bread to the seagulls. We had been there about 30 minutes before a woman, her husband, and baby came up and sat down about 15 feet from us (mind you, the beach was practically empty and they could've picked any spot along that 20 miles of beach to sit).
Next thing I know, this woman comes up to me and says "Can you like, go somewhere else to feed the birds? It's really annoying." I smiled and said to her "No, sorry. My kids are having fun I think we'll just stay put." She rolled her eyes and began to walk off when I heard the word "b*tch" from under her breath.
Anyway, we were about to leave and I saw there was half a loaf of bread left. I must have just been having one of those days...I had the kids go to the car, and as I walked behind them I took the half loaf of bread and threw it backwards towards where that woman was sitting (her hubby and baby were in the water...mhmm, 7/8 month old infant and 60 degree water).
When I finally got to the car, I looked back to about 30 seagulls fighting over the bread, right next to the woman who was swinging her towel at them. My 4 year old said to me afterwards "That lady sure is mad! That was so funny, Mom!"
I know it was wrong, but it felt good. Teaching the kids a bad lesson? Maybe. Teaching them not to take sh*t from people? Absolutely
Do you ever do something in front of your kids that you know you shouldn't?
