I dont know whats wrong with my black molly. I noticed for the past couple days, she has been unable to eat, she tries, but looks like she cant open her mouth. She is usually a great eater. She also seems sooo thin and her fins looks very deteriorated. I don't know whats going on. I haven't added a new fish, or changed tanks. The most recent event was a water change, which I did the same way I always do. Someone please help. Im afraid she wont last through the day.
John ray thank you so much, do you have any idea why she wouldnt be eating? It appears she cant open her mouth....She goes to eat and cant open her mouth. We have had her for 3 years.

Physical signs are usually the clue. ie cotton wool fungus, pine cone scales that sort of thing. If your Molly was thin , twisted spine and crkscrewing -it would be swim bladder. But It isn't any of these symptoms; it is thin with deteriorated fins - I would guess at fin rot - which can be treated with a solution - I am not an expert but have kept tropical fish for many years and have learnt to spot certain signs and successfully treated my own- You don't say how old it is - it may simply be old age. Another treatment is, before adding any treatment solution, try Aqua salt this will kill any bacteria in or on the fish (not too much, read the instructions) Good Luck

The only thing I can think of is mouth fungus, but I googled it for you. Try reading this:

or go to www.allexperts.com and type in fish can't open it's mouth in the search box. There will be a few articles/q's & a's on it.
