Hey girl,
Hope you are having a fairly pain free week-end so far.
Question for you if you don't mind sharing....do you have CES? What are your bowel and bladder symptoms? I have started with this pain/pins and needles/pressure sensation in my inner thighs and "bottom" and rectal area.. I used to have a BM 3 times day and now it is about 2-3 days! The surgeon didn't seem to be worried when I saw him last week, put me on steroiRAB for "inflammation" ????????? I actually felt better for 1 1/2 days and now back to the same pain. I'm a little worried and didn't know if you may have some input since I know you are dealing with this right now. What next?
I apologize to everyone for graphic descriptions.

I was wondering about this myself. I have been having problems with being able to start urination, no matter how bad I have to go. Usually, in the mornings, I have to go really bad, but just sit there and wait and wait.
When it comes to bowel movements, I can go 4-5 days without one. When that happens, I am so bloated to the point of being in pain. The gas just stays in my body, even if I feel like I have to pass gas, I just can't. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the back problems that I'm having.

Deb, I know you wrote this to Moldova but, please, please keep on top of these symptoms and any of the symptoms listed below.

Bladder disturbances such as:

Inability to urinate
Difficulty initiating urination
Decreased sensation when urinating
Inability to stop or control urination

If you start having any leakage, needing to run to the restroom, or having any type of control issues. Do not ignore them and call your doctor right away!

Bowel disturbances may include:

Inability to stop or feel a bowel movement
Constipation (This is very common with any of us on narcotics)

Loss of anal tone and sensation

You might do a search on the username bgsigns - I believe she had a case of this last year. She posts on the pain mgmt board from time to time.

Pepper,
Thanks so much! The steroiRAB helped for a few days with the "feeling" in my bottom and rectum but now it is coming back again. I haven't lost any function really.......something is just not right. I will be very careful and thanks for your concern. I have to call the surgeon tomorrow anyway to let him know if the steroiRAB worked. Thanks again Pepper!

Deb,
yes i was on steroiRAB for inflammation too - i did not have any bowel movements for 15 days after my second surgery. Non of stimulants helped, I mean nothing. I had to get general surgeon involved to help me started - i can't even describe to you what i went through on a top of pain from surgery.

I do suffer with both bladder and bowel.
For bladder: sometimes it leaks, sometime i can't started. I never feel it's empty, even after I spend some time in a bathroom, I get up and feel still not empty. Feels constantly fool and uncomfortable. Sometimes (mostly at night) accidents.
Bowel: i don't feel it. I never know when it fool, I never feel i have to go. I take so many different stimulants and feel nothing. If I don't force - i know for sure i probably wouldn't go for weeks and probably would have accident without knowing it. This is so horrible. I am not even talk about constipations sine all narco meRAB give you this side effect. Usually stimulants help with constipations, but if you have spinal nerves involved and Arachnoidites I have - forget it, nothing works.
I hate to admit it but it rules my life. I constantly think about it: i worry about accidents if we are planning to go somewhere, I worry if facilities we are plannig to go to have bathrooms close to me since i can't walk distances, and so on.
I also have some nurabness in that area especially after bowel movement. I do have a lot of nurabness in my legs and tighs, but that one is different.

I am very sorry about the details, but I don't know how else can I describe what is going on.
Deb, any time and any questions you need, I am here 24/7
Best of luck to you!

Moldova,
Thank you for sharing with me. I know this is such a delicate subject and I appreciate your help. I'm just not sure what is going on. I'll write more a little later but I just wanted to express my gratitude for your candidness regarding this issue.

With my new symptoms I too am worried about this. I urinate all of the time, and I mean all of the time, yet I am still swollen?? Plus, I still feel like my bladder is full. As far as the BM, I have never been regular there anyway so I wouldn't think to look for a problem there unless I had the opposite such as leakage.

Moldova, I know you have had it so rough this past year but my goodness, I never realized you had to deal with this on top of it all. I just want them to get you well, and I mean 100%. My mother has Crohns disease so we know all about they bathroom thing and going out. She was reconnected several years ago but only has about 7 inches of bowel left. None of the large intestines. While it gives her a better life, there are always leaks, especially if we get her laughing too much. She calms hers down with Tylenol 3. She had to take it for a dental thing and noticed it helped bind her up more so that too has given her back some of her life.

My heart and prayers are with all of you! I won't know more on mine for a bit yet. I see PM tomorrow to see if he can recommend a new doc.

Love,
Lisa

Well it seems that I'm not the only one! I'm glad I posted and again Moldova, without your kindness and willingness to share with us this subject may never have been discussed!
