can mold and mildew make you real bad sick . my father inlaws house is falling in. it is covered in mold and mildew. the ceilings, walls and floor you have to use a mask to breath. we didnt know how bad it was intill he called us to take him to the hospital. he was having a hard time breathing. when i went in the house i thought i was going to fall out! we are now moving his stuff out of the house. while he is still in the hospital. we told him he can not go back to that house. he is in icu. with pneumonia

Yes, that much mold can make a person terribly sick. The people who were flooded during Katrina in New Orleans continue to have health problems from mold that hasn't yet been completely eradicated from their buildings.

I'm sorry you didn't find the condition of your FIL's house until after he became so ill. I hope his recovery will be fast and complete.

You might also have to consider the stuff you removed from his house might be mold-contaminated now, and perhaps not a good idea to try to salvage much, if any of it.

Mold can make you very sick, and sometimes you don't recover. Your FIL needs some serious professional detoxing. I learned the hard way that mold is a health hazard. For me it was just a damp building I put up with working in for some years, til I got various rashes and things, and well, while I am slowly getting better, I think, I am certainly not the same as I used to be. I am so sorry I was ignorant of this health hazard, as so many of us are until it's too late.

Kudos to you for getting him out of there! I pray he gets the proper medical help.
