mogul v. iphone

im currently a VZW customer with voice plan only.

now, i want a smartphone with email/web, IM capability.

im debating between getting a Mogul from sprint and a iphone from at&t.

user-friendly is important to me.

has anyone tried both and what are your thoughts ?

let's make a few comparisons(cost is a factor for me):

mogul - $300
sero plan - $30/mo. w/ 500 anytime minutes..and unlimited data

iphone 4gb - $500
cheapest plan - $60/mo. w/ 450 mins and unlimited email/web.

Sprint? Wow, need I say more? Honestly, in about all the major cities I've traveled to, Sprint has been the worst carrier I've ever tried, hands down. The Mogul isn't exactly a great piece of hardware either (read reviews and compare to iPhone). Use both in the store and make up your mind, but I doubt after using iPhone you'll want to go with Sprint.
 
You ever wonder why Sprint allows everyone to sign up on their employee plan?

You ever wonder how many subscribers they would have if they did not allow that?

You wonder how many people would use the sprint network, if price was not important for anybody?

A few things about the Mogul... stupid hardware keyboard. Only comes with 256 megs of ram. Can expand it to match the iPhone but you have to spend extra money on that. It does support WiFi which is good. Poor battery life. Poor interface.

I would never pay $300 for a mogul, yet I would pay $600 for an iPhone. I have used Sprint, and personally I would not use them at all because the service does not work well where I live, so it does not matter what the price is.

For me it would be an easy decision. For others who have different factors and considerations it could certainly be different. I suspect you are not looking for an honest assesment but instead are just trying to ineffectively troll and try to show that some other combo is a better deal because it is cheaper.
 
i know this is an apple forum, and thus there will be biased.

so far, i have not heard any relevant answers to my questions..but only heard bashing of the sprint network.

unsure where all the reply users live, however, in my area(northern virginia), at&t users get drop calls all the time.
 
The Mogul...more 3rd party software, and cheaper service. Nice device, too. Only problem is you have to live with Sprint's rotten customer service, which is a serious drawback.

The iPhone is basically an appliance. It only barely qualifies as a smartphone, and currently does NOT support IM. AT&T has better native coverage for the most part (though Sprint fills things out well with roaming contracts). AT&T's customer service is no prize either sometimes, but it's better than Sprint's.

May I offer an alternative? The Cingular 8525 is AT&T's direct equivalent to the Mogul, and should be considered as well.
 
The Mogul -

Tremendous amount of user customization and 3rd party software support. With just a simple Google search, you can find anything from SNES emulators, to software that allows you to turn your phone in a TV remote. 2,4, and even 8 GB SD cards are available if you need more space, several methods of input; touchscreen, stylus, keypad, virtual keypad. WiFi, EV DO with an over the air upgrade to EV DO Revision A this fall. IM, Push E-Mail. Orb and Sling Box compatibility opens up a near endless amount of multimedia possibilities - Stream straight from your cable box, or access to your AVI and mp3 collection on your home PC.
