Modern/Middle East War Movies

I've hated and found war movies boring all my life, except, for some reason, this year I've really got into them and started watching things I never would have looked twice at a couple of years ago.
The ones I found most interesting was modern war movies such as Jarhead and The Kingdom (absolutely amazing film!) - ok they are not war as such, but they are based in the middle of todays war zones and shows how dangerous it is etc.

Can anyone recommend any other really good movies in this sort of genre I would like.
Only recently watched Saving Private Ryan too which I loved, but Mel Gibson's We Were Soldiers didn't really do much for me.

It got a bit of a bashing from the critics if I recall correctly, but I quite enjoyed Bravo Two Zero. It was a TV Film as opposed to a cinema movie. I imagine you can get it on DVD though.

Yes it is. It stars Sean Bean.

As usually happens, a lot of people who had read the book criticised the film.

But as someone who hadn't read the book, I thought the film was pretty good.

If you're willing to watch a Foreign Title then I can whole heartedly recommend Brotherhood to you.

Similiar concept to Saving Private Ryan, set in the Korean War. IMO it puts SPR to utter shame in comparison.

Shown on Sky Movies fairly recently so may still be in their schedules. A very good film, although marred by subtitles that seemed to have been left over from a cheap martial arts film.
