Mock The Week - Series 9, BBC2 Thursdays 10pm (Merged)

Chris Addison is genuinely annoying. Not annoyingly funny, but just annoying. At least Russell Howard, however much I don't care for his smugness, can be funny, I've yet to laugh at Chris Addison. He seems to have been given honoury comedic status by virtue of having damn good scripts written for him by Armando Iannucci.

He did that on last night's - some crack about, er, not being able to understand him (he's one to talk). What's usually described as 'borderline racism".
But I'm not actually sure what his problem is - is Howard an Arsenal supporter? Swaziland?

A couple of episodes ago I quite liked one of Russell Kane's jokes - rather Frankie Boyle-esque :D To which Dara commented "That was Frankie's seat wasn't it?" :)

Chris Addison.
Tonight's was surprisingly enjoyable. Although still lacking teh Frankie factor.
I've been watching the repeats on Dave and the difference in quality is clear.
Although tonight was a good opening episode, so don't think I'll give up on it just yet.

As I said in my OP, I guess we'll have to wait and see and hope that the new guys step up and give it a good go. There's no reason not to hold back.

It's a strange one about Hugh Dennis. He does actually come out with some controveresial material but in the manner that he does it it doesn't court the attention or controversy that if Frankie came out with it.

I thought it was a pretty good episode.

I spent half of it though wondering what TV program I recognised Diane Morgan from, it was only when she mentioned the London Underground I realised I knew her from the Bing advert...

It was so bad this week I had to turn it off. Just annoying more than funny and I love Dara, Hugh and Andy so nothing to do with them at all... just the crap guests and Russel Howard who is not funny and never has been on anything and anywhere.

It's a shame to lose one of my favourite shows, especially as HIGNFY hasn't been great recently either. And where is 8 out of 10 cats?

 they invited that Sean guy back?! I normally like most of the comedians on MTW, no matter how hated they are on RAB; But he was beyond terrible! I can't forget him just making a random noise for one of the "Scenes we'd like to see" I don't mind Zoe though and Milton is always good :)

I sometimes catch Milton Jones when he does his 6.30 pm Radio4 slot. Usually better than some of the stuff in the slot.

Had read the grauniad's piece about the show, and the comments. Surprised how much praise Bremner used to get for his early bits. The 'Lonely Hearts' bit? Hmm, Bremner's doing his Tony.. Mandela etc.. hmm, who could that be? Hugh Dennis doing Prince Charles/Phillip.. hmm, can't guess.. Apart from the political stuff, most of the stuff involving impressions got really predictable.

Milton had the odd one-liner that was pretty good. Parsons was OK, the Adebayor stuff was good for Howard, although I suspect it will either be repeated on his BBCthree show.

It's completely run out of steam. I used to be an uber MTW fan, but stopped watching it the series before Frankie quit.

I don't understand why people say it only went downhill after he went. It was getting far too stale even whilst he was there.

The Bremner era of the show will always be my fondest.
