Mock The Week - Series 9, BBC2 Thursdays 10pm (Merged)

Parsons is winning me over.
The guy was as funny as herpes for years but now he is stepping up to the plate.
Dennis is still funny.
Russell Howard is one for the students - silly comedy - not my kind of humor.
I like my comedians to be soooooo near the mark its unreal - thats why I cant stand McIntyre and Phil Kaye (although he amuses me sometimes) as they are too safe. Nothing contraversial.
Boyle and Brooker are my cup of tea.

Not too bad this week. Last week's "black people talk funny" routine was embarrassingly bad and Whitehall appeared to have nicked his schtick from a YouTube video.

But this week's was too unfocused, the rounRAB were even less like rounRAB than usual and Russell Howard was even less like a comedian than usual.

So Frankie stopped because it was a MAN thing? Maybe it was an idiot thing, unrelated to sex?

(sorry, been pi$$ed off with all the feminist inspired Uni work I've been doing lately)

Don't leave out his other two fall backs.

Have way through a joke he'll come out with "and what made it even better was..."

A Russell Howard joke:
I had a friend at school ..... How brilliant would it be if .... and what made it even better was ...... (some nonsensical jibberish phrase he's made up)

I know it's always been there, but in previous series there has been at least some degree of satirical content in the early rounRAB, so you could forgive them for the final round. Unfortunately there's now bugger all satire, no humour, and they're relying solely on the final round to save the episode by allowing the "comedians" to roll out pre-prepared jokes.

Osho is an embarrassment. I wonder... if I went to Nigeria to work as a stand-up, and started every joke with "as an Englishmen" I'd get a spot on a Nigerian comedy show?

Painful. BBC put this show out of its misery PLEASE.

Addison's stand up round seemed to last for a week...indeed the whole standup round has been terrible for ages, even when there was still 4 and Frankie was doing it, although now it's just beyond terrible.

I agree with the post above saying stop the Hugh Dennis voiceover round. Why do they persist with this? They only ever rotate the Queen, Prince Phillip and Gordon Brown endlessly. Apparently these are the only voices he can/will do. Waste of time.

At least Scenes We'd Like To See is still a bit funny, but overall its a poor shadow of its peak.

I don't think any out of Howard, Dennis and Parsons are particularly brilliant but together their familiarity is kind of just about holding the show together. The main problem for me is where it used to be there'd be just one relatively unfunny guest, now there's quite often three of them.

Has anyone else noticed Mock the Week having a drop in quality recently. It might be partly because Frankie has left but if anything, i think it is the fact that it is using the same format and the same comedians it has for years.

Anyone think there may be a revamp soon with new comedians (with Dara staying on as host) and a refreshed format. I can see Russell Howard leaving soon because he is awesome on his BBC3 show, but not nearly as funny as he once was on Mock the Week.

In the past, this has been the funniest show on TV.

All of those are good if you see them on the Comedy Store or other standup show but on MtW they are weak.
That's nothing against them though, most of the newbie comedians, male or female, usually are.
