Mock The Week - Series 9, BBC2 Thursdays 10pm (Merged)

Yahoo listed this week's episode with this synopsis:

Hosted by Dara O' Briain, with regulars Rory Bremner and Frankie Boyle, and guests including Jo Brand and Al Murray.

I give up...

Bremner was quite good though, as is Dennis. Regarding his Tutu impression it seemed more similar to Boyle and Howard doing Berlesconi impersonations. McIntyre has also done some dodgy accents on his appearances.

I think you'd have to see more of the SA guys routine to see how the full act develops.

It must be for the viewers who only watch standup because of the ressurgance of it on BBC primetime.

All you have to do is watch a standup show on Paramount/Comedy Central (because many have been around for years) or if you see them on a panel show the goto youtube or their website.

I guess it's different being a fan of standup. I don't know or care who some of the reality/pop stars are who popup on panel shows.

Because the guests don't want to do the same stuff they're doing on tour on tv, something Frankie Boyle was heavily criticized for.

I did once catch Micky Flanagan on some comedy prog doing a piece on teenage pregnancy, putting forward the case that teenagers now go straight to sex, however in our day (similar age) there was
fingering
.

Spoilered cos some may find it distasteful - yes I know its a MTW thread but just in case.

I found it quite funny - and possibly true.

The show is MUCH better without Russell Howard.

Also, one of the complaints in previous series (from certain people) was that the show had become "too nasty" and that it had become somewhat of a "bear pit" with the guests almost competing over who would get the biggest laugh, but both of these elements seem to have gone now. However, I'm still finding the show very enjoyable, despite the lack of "edgy" humour. It's funny, but in a different way.

Although I did think this week's episode was poor, having said that. Last week was brilliant though.

Surprised there was no thread for this already. It's very so-so.

And there's only three people again in the stand-up round.

Tonight's guests - Chris Addison, Milton Jones and Andi Osho.

Women can be funny so drope the sexist bilge!
MTW neeRAB to find funnier guests of both genders as the show is dying. Boyle was funny but he also made the others work harder , something that's missing.

I'd hate to see how poor the other 2 and a half hrs are.
Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh, this weeks ep was good but last series was dire.

Normally I love Chris Addison but he was really grating on me last night, he was just so desperate for a laugh. Micky Flanaghan was crap, he used that joke on Live at the Apollo before and even then it wasn't that funny.

I guess Russell is trying to get back to the old days when Frankie would come out with something controversial but funny, and possibly this is him knowing that the standard of the show is plummetting. It would be a shame to see the programme cancelled but it seems it going down the right way for cancellation.
