"Mobile Suit Gundam 00" on Sci Fi's Ani-Monday Series Talkback (Spoilers)

Just watched the first dub episode, and I have to say it's an utter dissapointment.

Why is Ocean Group compelled to direct actors to sound extra snotty and confrontational even when it is incredibly inappropriate? Allelujah sounRAB way too smug and out of character, Graham is an obvious bad choice, and Saji sounRAB like he's on antidepressants.

There are a few acceptable casting decisions, but overall I think they really missed the mark on getting actors that don't make the main cast seem like a bunch of pompous little shonen cliches. This show deserves more than that. I can't tell how much of it is the actors faults and how much of the blame is with the director.

Oh, Soma, your voice is like that of the insane angel Fllay! But seriously, Soma is just proving how awesome she is.

The Allies are getting pwned! I guess no one expects Flying Knives!

I agree. Cute sounding, but not irritating.

Ah! Evil Haro!

Colonel: Patrick? Patrick?! PATTTTTTTTTTRRRRRRRRRRRRICK!

Gundams, providing world leaders with headaches since 0079.

Tonight, you guys are lucky. Episode 14 will mark a new OP (and maybe if Sci-Fi decides to play it, a new ED). It's called "Ash Like Snow" performed by The Brilliant Green (yes that's actually the name of the band). Some of us believe it to be one of the greatest Gundam openings of recent times if not of all openings so look foward to it.

This is the E7 ending all over again. Sci-fi better re-air the final episode with the ending completely intact, or they've dropped the ball, bad.

Personally, the 80's Appleseed is good for 80's cheese, Speed Racer-esque dub nonwithstanding. I wouldn't watch it again, but it was passable blow 'em up entertainment.

I don't know, "Ignited" and "Rhythm Emotion" is pretty up there.

And who could forget "Turn a Turn, Turn a Turn, Turn AAAAAAAAAAAA...."

But Ash Like Snow is an opening that stanRAB among some of the greatest in anime

I get this strange feeling that this Shirin character is going to be awesome, and I assumed that the princess and the white-haired soldier were dudes. I was so wrong on those...

Looking forward to next week!

It wouldn't be so upsetting if it wasn't for the fact that I WANT to like it, and I still intend to buy the inevitable Blu-Ray release, but a meh dub detracts from my enthusiasm for it.

Yeah, the other Trinity siblings have great dubs too. Perfect for their characters.

Patrick is... special. Let's leave it at that. Loving this episode.

Operation Gundam capture? Why am I sure this will involve Setsuna being trapped somehow? Then again, the Meisters already have a talking mascot, an easily kidnapped kid would complete the collection.

One example I'll give- the assistant reporting the Gundams to the HRL leader

"These 'mooooooobile weaponnnnnns'...."

If we believe Ocean, people in the real world would say 'fiiiighter plaaaaaanes' and 'amourrrred taaaanks'.
