"Mobile Suit Gundam 00" on Sci Fi's Ani-Monday Series Talkback (Spoilers)

We go from Gundam Chun Li to Gundam Cheerios ....

Seriously, this show is okay so far. I loved seeing the Sunrise logo at the beginning though (make more Big O).

Well, well Tieria reveal Gundam Nadleeh to his enemies just so he could escape. Guess now we know who isn't worthy of being a Gundam Meister.

Pretty good episodes. Cox did a pretty good job as Al and Hal. Speaking of Hal I never expected him to be so sadistic. Gundam Nadleeh looks like a rock star with that wild hair .

Chicago? Never mind Illinois is in a pretty central location and thus good as a staging area. Scott AFB, for example, is a major air center for the current US Military. [/QUOTE]

*cheer* Go Nova Cats!

As for Nena. Yes. She's a sociopathic, queen psycho *****. Which is half the reason I loves her so. Seriously, the dichotomy between her cheerful, genki self and the inner sociopath is rather fun to watch. On the other hand, Ali is just...well. Slime. I can see why people like him, but I dont understand how some people seem bound and determined to make him seem likeable while at the same time seem ready to burn Nena at the stake.

*sigh* The fate all Gundams have to live by because of Gundam Wing to the the point that any set of Gundams with a distinctive style and within one certain team will elicit a knee-jerk reaction that it's like Wing somewhat in the first few episodes. My suggestion as always to give it time and let the series pleasantly surprise you, which it already is doing right off the bat and quite well in my hurable opinion. But first off, my list on who works and who I need to get used to.

Works: Billy, Sumeragi, Wang, Allelujah, Tieria, Alejandro, Marina, Saji, Louise, Kinue, Patrick, Aeolia and of course Haro.
Get used to: Sergei, Graham, Setsuna, Lockon, Christina, Feldt, Hong Long (not sure about how he refers to Wang as "Mistress").

Other than that, a good start. I can't help but be sucked into this odd world where interventions are caused by Gundams, and the world seems to reflect on a possible what if of our reality. It also helps immensely that the entire product is relatively sterling in terms of production work, style, and execution. It's fun, and despite how one-sided the first fight is, it's quite intense and interesting. It will be quite nice to eventually see what happens to the Gundams when they're in over their heaRAB, but for right now, let's enjoy the ride. The only flaw on hand at the moment is that there isn't much of the Meisters really. They make expository small talk, and just say they're commencing the mission, but I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt because these first two episodes are essentially world building ones.

See you next week.

And it's at this point I REALLY cant understand how Ali can still be so loved while Nena is panned. At least Nena's Yandere and cute while being sociopathic. You can make the argument she was likely raised this way and thus doesnt know any better, too.

Actually, CB posed no threat at all. Cb could have blown up all the major capital cities of the world in episode 1, and no one could have stopped them. The proclamation CB made, made it clear that nations could still get what they want through diplomacy. And the lack of a military option isn't that bad, because the playing field is even, so larger nations still win over smaller nation in negotiations.

The only reason the World Powers want the Gundams is greed. They want the weapons for themselves, that's all.

Luckily, I have DVR, because I forgot that Gundam 00 was on last week. Watched it Tuesday evening when I got home. Oh boy, I wonder what that reminded me of.

Can't wait for the new episodes tonight. I just hope that it's one that some people can start the series on, because I've literally begged people to day to watch Gundam.

Once bitten, twice shy.

Setsuna is working for himself. He is in CB only because they are going in the same general direction. Setsuna no longer trust "leaders", Ali made sure of that.

For Setsuna, even the missions are not important in and of themselves. It is his own private "Be a Gundam" goal that takes priority. That's partly why early on when Lockon was giving out battle plans before the assualt on Sri Lanka, Setsuna ignored him.

Setsuna will never follow anyone ever again.

I'm still not really sold on all the comparing Setsuna to Heero. I mean, Heero didn't even really have a backstory or motivation. They seem instead to be giving Setsuna clear one- he was tricked into becoming a child soldier for a supposed 'holy war' and it's understandably made him cynical but also desperate to change the world via Celestial Being. Heero WISHES he had that consistent a motivation.

I believe your assessment of the twin sex thing is correct from what I read
From Fan site-> http://tieria.nu/two-spirited/about.php
"The term Nadleeh pertains to a Navajo term, meaning "two-spirit", or a male and female spirit living in the same body"
Again From model site --> http://gordonator.com/2008/05/31/gundam-virtuenadleeh/

Side note;
Being that Gundam's look is originally based on Samurai armor.
Some Samurai armor had flowing hair that was attached, sometimes ornamental, sometimes for a look of ferocity. They added Mustaches, bearRAB, all using horse, and or yak hair.
I just wonder if this designer wanted to also try out another aspect of armor.
...of course they were never bright freakin red and long as a 80's rock guitarist.

So is having emotional baggage and/or being off your rocker a requirement for being a Gundam Meister?

I was more interested in these episodes to hear that the Thrones' solar reactors are knockoRAB, which might explain why they spew red particles instead of gold.
KnockoRAB or not, they still seem quite powerful.

And Union Flag Squad Captain guy being able to take off one of the throne's arms with their own beamsaber = awesome.
