"Mobile Suit Gundam 00" on Sci Fi's Ani-Monday Series Talkback (Spoilers)

Also, is it supposed to be syrabolic that his name's Hallelujah and his last name rhymes with baptism? Or are they being like NGE and just adding random references to Christianity just for the sake of it?

Setsuna and Tieria working together ??? That was unexpected. It was cool seeing the Trinities getting their asses kick twice especially Nena.

Man, Saji life sucks. First his girlfriend loses her family and her hand and now his sister get stab by Ali. I wouldn't be surprised if Saji start piloting a Flag in season 2.

So next week we get 4 episodes. Cool. Now I wonder how long will we have to wait till season 2?

One wonders about such organizations like CB existing in the world. There's nothing really saying such an organization couldn't exist. It's just that your chances of fighting the world's superpowers and surviving is slim. Luckily, CB apparently has the resources to accomplish this feat. No doubt there would be people sharing the vision of CB. But what of their goal? Is it feasible?

One also wonders if CB-clones would pop up? Batman had the same problem: copycats began fighting crime based on his example. Just thinking small groups of CB wantabes showing up and acting as peacekeepers (or more extremely, disarming anyone devoted to war) is both humorous and scary.

One also wonders why the superpowers are even spending their time on such a group? My hypothesis is simply that the 3 factions have no other major enemies at the moment that are a threat to everyone. CB poses the greatest threat, despite not wanting any political control other than to attain peace. One wonders if the Union, AEU, and HRL would shift their attention had a much deadlier threat appears.

Yeah, I also have to give props to Strand for her performance. I knew from that start that she's much improved from her Lacus days, and she certainly does Feldt very well which was proved tonight.
Big time spoiler territory.

I think personal ideologies are a big theme for this series. Setsuna might compare a Gundam to a god but that doesn't mean everyone thinks so. Likewise, I'm suprised to see that most here seem to think our protagonist is some crazy, pseudo-religious punk of no real note. It strikes me that Setsuna seems to be soul searching, much like the show itself. Whilst it isn't really pulling punches, the show isn't really giving us direct answers either. It's instead giving us ample room to think, exactly like Setsuna is doing. One of the biggest questions of course is the nature of the Gundams- are they heroes from the heavens or monsters enforcing their will on their world?

We open with Ali telling us how to become psychos. Pe-do-phile. Children and guns don't really mix.
"celestial what ever" hah.
Sumeragi's chest is blinding me again D:

Tieria lecturing Setsuna about being self absorbed is kind of funny considering all he ever does is moan and complain about everybody elses faults. You can't take yourself too seriously when you're walking around in pink cardigans.
I hate seeing Setsuna getting smacked =[ So what he's younger than the rest of them- with out exia they'd be at a major disadvantage and at least when he fights he really puts his entire soul into it. I honestly love the scenes with all 4 miesters in it. They interactions with each other and their relationships are so intersting.

yeah. Ive never been a fan of Marina.

Maybe it doesn't justify what she actually did, but it may justify the reasoning behind it. Maybe she was put through very harsh times to be a Meister and so seeing people so happy angers her and reminRAB her of the past she never had. Blowing it up was a bit extreme, but if that's all you have been taught to do the action becomes quite easy to do without second thoughts.

Yeah, and the issue is blurred even more by various behavior. You have Setsuna doing good this week, whereas Tieria basically considers it a risk and a ridiculous waste of time. Al saves civilians, Wang complains that he ignored his mission. Alleujah is a good guy, but as Hal he's practically a homicidal maniac. People like Lockon and Sumeragi seem mature and conscientious, whereas secondary characters in Celestial Being make it appear to be a cold and calculating organization. Given the variety of different attitudes and beliefs within CB, it certainly raises the question about who is really erabodying the group's ideals.

On another smaller note, I can't help noticing that Setsuna tried emulating O Gundam last week and failed to "become a Gundam" from his point of view, whereas this week he "became Gundam" by not fighting. Between this and his worthy attempt to fool Graham and Billy into thinking that he was just a harmless know-nothing, Setsuna comes off smarter and more intelligent in this arc than he first appeared. Going by just early episodes one could be legitimately fooled into thinking that he basically just cared about completing missions and destroying as many weapons as possible, no questions asked.

Now I think that would be a first for Bandai since I can't think of any other anime they've done that was airing in Japan and on American TV at the same time. Though I will be very impressed if it does not go on hiatus.

Also it's a good thing you normal television watchers didn't see the subs ahead of time otherwise you might have accidentally seen this during episode 5

That got a laugh from my frienRAB.

While I usually hate Gundam, I'd like the show if the characters were drawn a bit less um, fanservice-y and/or more realistic? Ah well. So nice try Gundam. Especially on the design front such a big improvement over SEED for me.

Nadleeh doesn't seem any worse than say Nobel Gundam. As said, Tieria does seem to have some kind of gender issues so the fact this partly is reflected in his Gundam is logical. I mean, Al and Hal do similar- the guy with 2 personalities piloting the Gundam that can likewise transform between two forms. It's nicely done syrabolism.

Ah so much Nena hate
Don't worry come next Monday all that hate will be directed at Prince Ali after what he does

Mod Note: Ideally no spoilers at all, but if you're going to post them please use a spoiler block. Thank you.

Man, I thought Battlestar Galactica was depressing.

First Kinoue, then Lockon, Chris and Lichty. Not to mention seeing the other Gundam Meisters getting torn apart. This was pretty depressing episodes . Well on the positive side the two Trinity brothers got what they deserve. Can't wait till next week season finale.

At this point, they seem to be planning to start releasing it on DVD after the end of season one. That's already fully released in Japan, so I don't see the issue. I think we'll definitely see DVD's in March or April, though I'm really hoping it's March. It would be consistent with BEI's other activities. The second part of season one just came out for Code Geass, and Adult Swim is already airing R2 so the dub is clearly far ahead of the DVD schedule.
