"Mobile Suit Gundam 00" on Sci Fi's Ani-Monday Series Talkback (Spoilers)

I'm just saying two episodes is WAY too early for anyone to be declaring the flavour of the show or that it's a copy of anything. Maybe that'll turn out true, maybe it won't. But we're 2 episodes in to a 25 episode season (with a second 25 episode season currently airing in Japan I believe), so no one should act high and mighty with first impressions. Fans are too quick to judge.

You are allowed civilian casualties, it just can't be the purpose of the operation.

CB is being labeled a terrorist by HRL for political purposes only. Much like how Britannia call the Black Knights terrorists. And Union + AEU hasn't even labeled CB terrorists at all, because they know they are not suppose to.

The word "Terrorist" used to MEAN something. It isn't a catch-all term for enemy of the state.

I am not sure if this was intentional or not, but
after Kinue's death, the Press ceased to have any relevance. The news media ceased to be a faction who reports news, but become a gagged puppet who could only say or do what the authorities wanted. So Kinue's death was also the death of the Free Press...

Paul Dobson isn't doing it for me as Graham. The dub also seems clumsy at times

OMG Sergei has a way to raspy voice.

Even as a Tiny character they could have made the Union Chief a little less whiny sound

WTF, did that little ***** just killed some innocents just for fun?! And before that she actually threaten Setsuna? What the hell is wrong with the Thrones Gundams? Man, I hate these guys!

Poor Saji and Louise. Really enjoy their comic relief admist all the fighting and violence but now it looks like everything is gonna be a downer. Really feeling bad for Louise.

Wow, tonite eps was all kinRAB of happy and sadness.

I'm quite impressed with the dub which is on par with Ocean's Gundam Wing dub, the actors really managed to capture a lot of the emotion in their characters tonight especially McNeil as Ail and Zahara as Lockon. Also Lockon's death scene still gets me everytime...

I suggest you first watch Gundam Wing and its movie sequel Endless Waltz, they serve as a pretty good introduction to the whole Gundam franchise and it's probably one of the easiest besides 00 and G to get into. Then you should move on to the original Moblie Suit Gundam and its side stories MS 08th Team and 0080 then see Zeta.

Wounded_Dragon, here is physical evidence:

And, this ad was in HD. Someone at Sci-Fi, Manga/Starz, Bandai, or Sunrise/rabS dropped the ball when only things in the first HD Gundam shown in HD during the American broadcast, are the aRAB.

I just hope that the legal downloaRAB can be in HD; they won't, but I hope against reality.

But is that possible? I get the feeling the show is intentionally making CB hard to pin down. This doesn't seem like other recent Gundam shows where the pilots are effectively vigilante heroes. Celestial Being are forcing their will on the world with swift, brutal power and through that people are getting hurt. Despite a public address that championed themselves as heroes of the downtrodden, they're just as much unfeeling tyrants as the existing powers. Plus now we have these new Gundams who seem to be even harsher against who they see as enemies.

They certainly seem to have been raised a certain way, specifically to be Gundam Meisters. My guess is that there's some conditioning at work. That said, they don't seem like dull drones either. What ultimately seems to separate the Thrones from the four Meisters is that the Thrones are just acting out the plan in a hardcore manner as if nothing else matters, whereas the Meisters have the benefit of real world experience. This makes them "flawed" in the eyes of some like Wang but the truth is that it helps give them the perspective and judgment to use the power of their Gundams responsibly. Their difficult pasts also give them legitimate motivation to want to exterminate war, whereas as far as we know the Thrones are basically just fighting because they know that they're supposed to.

Getting back to Nena, even in that context she didn't blow up the wedding because Veda told her to or because it furthered the plans. So it was a very random, indiscriminate act. Johann's reaction seems to support this, as he seemed to be correcting her for acting on her own as opposed calling her out for what she actually did.

Nadleeh is a "robot in disguise" if you will, basically wearing a very tough shell. It's somewhat logical that it would end up a bit smaller and slimmer than your average Gundam. I rather like it myself.

Well, also, there's a bit of trivia that couldn't possibly have survived in translation that probably shouldn't go unmentioned. When Tieria is having his tantrum and getting all upset in Japanese, he uses different worRAB for "I" or "me": "boku" and "watashi." As you can see here "boku" is usually used by boys and young men, whereas "watashi" is most often used by women.

Make of these facts what you will......
