"Mobile Suit Gundam 00" on Sci Fi's Ani-Monday Series Talkback (Spoilers)

Then again, we have no idea of the circumstances of her life. Indeed, we have little or data to determine wither or not she can be fully culpable of her actions. He have seen in other series in which this could be the case.

But I do agree, what she did does deem her on the side of wrong, either as villain or anti-hero, likely villain.

CB isnt a government. The Gundam meisters arent military units.
CB, when you get right down to it, are a terrorist unit. They might be more concerned about civilian casualties, but that's what they are. You dont rob from terrorists, you neutralise them, which is what the governments are trying to do.

This Allelujah fangirl officially approves of his voice. It's very different from the Japanese, but his subdued, serious tone is still present.

Actually, I really like all the Meisters' voices. For a few lines I was hearing Light, but then Setsuna started sounding more unique as the episode went on. Lockon sounRAB great and I'm definitely sold on Tieria. Awesome. It's good when the main characters sound good :P

Really, the only voices I didn't like were Graham and Saji. Saji definitely sounRAB a bit wussy but he's supposed to at this point. But, I'm just not quite there yet with it. And Graham... just no.

"Sucks to be you. Sucks to be you." Bahaha, Haro is awesome.

Ah, it's so refreshing to watch season 1 again. Love it, love it, love it. Sci-Fi fails for its commercial placement, though.

And use the presence of increased terrorism to incite fear and devotion in the populace, utilising the terrorist threat as some contemporary cultural bogeyman.

These Gundams are in our neigrabroadourhooRAB, ladies and gentleman...personally, that kid with the red scarf sets off all kinRAB of warning bells.

It's a natural reaction to a generation raised on Post-Modernism and MST3K.

But really, it's hard to make a serious discussion while watching a show. At best, a releveant point or reaction to an event could be made. But most of the time, one watches anime for its entertainment value. And with all entertainment, the fans can't help but make fun of stuff, all in good fun.

It dosn't help that the show didn't get too serious until now. I mean, its hard not to poke fun at a show lacking in tragedy.

No can do. I'm learning what to expect as I read along. (Spoilers don't phase me.)

I don't really watch mecha shows, (that might change very soon, and I did happen to like Big O), but the action in this was good. The only gundam show that I've actually sat down and watched was G Gundam. It's time I branched out in the series lol.

Well, not completely. Sumeragi's response to Al that their fighting the Thrones might be part of the plan was basically just window dressing to excuse them doing what they thought was right, and rightfully so.

The thing is, spin oRAB have made a bigger deal of it than Tomino ever did. Plus more than one has ripped off Char's "I wear this mask so I can get in close to my true enemies". Heck, Zechs steamrolled through that fairly early on in Wing. It also attracts lazy writing- Gundam writers pretty much know that a masked character will basically become popular without them really having to try. Instead they just copy Char AGAIN and have them spout wry comments.

Well, with the first two episodes now over, I have some firm opinions on the casting.

Setsuna: Cautiously optimistic. Swaile didn't really copy Light, and there wasn't even a hint of Amuro or Quatre. He can play the quiet, reserved aspect of the character well enough, though the real test is to come once the role starts to demand more beyond that.

Lockon: I thought relative newcomer Alex Zahara did a fine job. He managed to capture Lockon's positive personality.

Alleujah: Some have doubts about this one, but I thought it was spot-on. Al is quiet and serious in the show, and that seems to carry on here. So what if it's like a subdued Inu-Yasha? It works.

Tieria: Cautiously optimistic. Not necessarily perfect but he often came off as distant, which suits Tieria. Sam Vincent is clearly capable of excellent expression in the role, such as with the "the world is being tested" line. This casting could really pay off later.

Saji Crossroad: The jury is out. I had a good first impression, but I'd like to hear more.

Louise Halevy: Kelly Sheridan nailed it. She sounded completely natural. Well done.

Kinue Crossroad: No complaints. Anna Cummer comes off as sufficiently mature.

Sumeragi: I thought Lisa Ann Beley was damn near perfect. Her delivery was excellent when Sumeragi was reflecting on Celestial Being's plan, much like Sam Vincent as Tieria. I'm now pretty confident that this was the correct casting choice.

Wang Liu Mei: This was perfect. Youthful, confident, smug, arrogant. Maryke Hendrikse fits the role like a glove.

Marina Ismail: Also perfect. I know, I'm a fan of the character, but seriously. I hope Paula Lindberg's acting is always that great. I'm now over Kelly Sheridan not getting the role.

Alejandro Corner: Jury is out. I want to hear how Andrew Kavadas sounRAB next week.

Christina Sierra: Yet again, a very appropriate voice for the character. I'm almost sorry now that Shannon Chan-Kent doesn't have a bigger role.

Feldt Grace: It's...acceptable. For now, I'm just thankful that Chantal Strand isn't making her sound like a young, starry-eyed kid like she did with Lacus in Gundam Seed. It's probably at least in part a benefit of her growing up since then.

Sergei: Cautiously optimistic. Not quite the gruff voice I imagined, but what Michael Dobson does works. Good, not great, it will do.

Patrick: He was an annoying, brash, arrogant loudmouth. In other worRAB, Trevor Devall did it right.

Graham: Cautiously optimistic. Overall, he sounded different and far better than he did in the trailer. People hoping for a "badass" voice may have been let down, I don't know. But Paul Dobson at least pulls off Graham's cunning intelligence, if not his aggressive zeal on the battlefield.

Billy: A little iffy at first, but then Kirby Morrow got good and stayed good by the time that Billy and Graham were carrying on long conversations. We'll see.

Second-stringers: All the random officers and politicians were actually...decent. I'm honestly surprised. In particular, whoever acted the Union President did it perfectly.

I call shenanigans on that. CB has yet to incur actions that might be considered "Terrorist".

Wither or not CB is a government is not relevant to the argument that CB is a armed force. Plenty of partisans and guerrilla fight belonging to a movement, and not to a government. They are still considered a military force.

So far, CB targets have been military, paramilitary, or terrorist forces. They have yet to target civilians or innocents or even whole populations for their cause, use fear or murder to accomplish their goals.

In fact, we see efforts by CB to restrict their targets to strictly military forces. If they were terrorists, then they not discriminate their targets as carefully as they do.

The closest term I would use for CB is a guerrilla militia. So far they have bear their arms openly, have identifiable syrabols, and so far, have not attacked illegitimate targets.

Well, I was going to cheer on Setsuna x Nena as Kira x Flay V2, but she is clearly insane in the merabrane (and in the brain). And a civilian losing their hand--never seen that in a Gundam series. (BTW, I know it's most likely the trauma talking in that scene, but can't she still wear the ring on her other hand, or is it Japanese tradition to wear it only on the left hand?)

On the comic relief side: They're brothers? They're brothers? That's too weird. That's too weird.

7 episodes left to go this season. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for its return what with all the movie reruns and Rave Master (ugh) coming to the block.

A good bunch of episodes. Now that the Allies have GN drives of their own, the battlefield is somewhat leveled.

Despite my undying love and unhealthy obsession over Nena, it's nice that the Trinties got their butts handed to them. They needed a good womping. It just get boring if they won every single time.

Soma shows up again! It's always nice to hear Tibitha St. Germain's voice.

There were only a few problems.

One, no cat fight between Soma and Nena. A perfect opprotunty, and the writers blew it by having a short battle. Had it gone longer, we could have seen Soma and Nena duke it out!

Two, Ali knifing Kinue. This angered me to no end. You think the hate for Nena is big! Multiply all that by 2, and you know how I feel.

No one takes our chicks... and lives.
