Mobile phone repair warranty issue, htc?

Ive had my HTC Wildfire mobile phone for no longer than a month, the touch screen has became non responsive.
My HTC was purchased from an over sea's company (hong kong) and HTC informed me that my phone originates from India.

With this HTC Aus says they cannot repair my phone as it has minor software differences and maybe hardware but i can hardly see how removing a pressure point on the screen or fixing the touch is requred to send to another country.

The person i bought it of offered me to send it to him for him to deal with warranty issues and get it repaired but i find this impractical and a rather long money trail sending country to country.

Is there anyway i can get HTC Aus to deal with my phone? as really as far as i read, there is nothing in the warranty stating that you have to bring it back to the origin country for repair.
