MLB playoff spots history?

What is the earliest a team has ever been numerically bumped from the playoff. And what is the earliest a team has ever clinched a playoff spot.
 
You never know. I dont think they are going to be clinched to early this season.
 
I believe the earliest a team was eliminated was the 1962 mets, they won only like 42 games in the enitre season, and lost 120.
Maybe the earliest a team clinched was the 1906 Chicago Cubs-116 wins. The 1998 yankees won 114 games. the 1927 Yanks won 110.
