At the moment I have a tank with a very small Oranda and I plan on getting another small fish, maybe a Black Moor or a Pom Pom, Pearl Scale... something like that. I want to know if having a small school of Black Widow Tetras (or something similar) in this tank would work.

Any one have a mix like this or know if it would work fine?

Misconceptions ...
Goldfish AREN"T "coldwater" fish, they are "temperate" fish."Coldwater" is any fish that requires constant temperatures below 60F,"temperate" is any fish that goes through seasonal temperature changes.
Not all fish sold as "tropical" fish have to have tropical temperatures (which actually start at 78F) ... over 50% of those are "temperate" also.

But ever fish has a range that it prefers to live in ... so you don't mix fish that have preference ranges outside of the others. That causes stress.
It is also not a good ideal to mix fish that are sensitive to water quality with Goldfish, which are VERY high bio-load messy fish.
If you kept water quality good (as in excellent) there is no reason you couldn't keep any from that temperature preference range together with Goldfish .The rules that would apply would be no fin nippers with "fancy" Goldfish or fish small enough to be eaten or harassed by the Goldfish.

Alright, first, it would be really helpful if you listed the size of your tank, because there's a rule for goldfish most people have no idea of.

For the first goldfish in a tank, you require a minimum of 20 gallons. For each one after that, you need an additional 10-15 gallons. So for example, if you have 3 goldfish in a tank, you need a 40-50 gallon tank. So, how big is yours?

Black Widow Tetras are tropical fish, and a bit sensitive, so they wouldn't be able to do with cold water, however, a good fish would be White Cloud Mountain Minnows.

So I would suggest, with say a 30 gallon tank.

- 1 Oranda
- 1 Black Moor
- 6 White Clouds

And heavy filtration since Goldfish are really messy.

i have 2 black mores and 2 fantail goldfish with white cloud mountian minnows had no problems they been 2gether for about 2yrs now
