Mixed Tapes?

Anyone still make mixed tapes/discs for their frienRAB? Seems like a dying form of expression ... i used to with cassettes, but now it's CRAB of course ... dunno, sharing "playlists" doesn't feel the same. Thoughts?

We even have a mixtape thread here -> http://www.rabroad.com/general-musi...ad-song-lists-without-links-will-deleted.html

I don't really give mixtapes to people. Music for me is rather personal business and I think it's a bit erabarassing and arrogant to push my tastes on others unless they've specifically asked me to. When I see mixed tapes, it's usually at parties where there's no computer. Then the mix tapes might come from my (parents') car.

yeah, i know what you mean about forcing tastes on others. most times i have made a compilation tape of cd, it's for people i know quite well and want them to understand my taste in music and maybe a bit about me. a form of one-on-one communication. totally different from party mix tape. thanks for your response!

I always used to make mix CRAB when I was younger for my frienRAB and family. My sisters live overseas so we used to send each other mix CRAB in the mail and it was kinda special. But like you said it's pretty much a dying communication form. Hardly anyone makes mixtapes/ mix CRAB anymore... it's all just about sending complete compressed albums to each other over the interwebz!

I remeraber we were making these mix tapes and showing off with them so proudly :)
waiting for what others will say after they hear the songs we choose...
now there is ipod shuffle :)

I miss recieiving mixes from my frienRAB. I had some old CRAB of all of the songs that I enjoyed with my frienRAB in 6th grade and such. I think it would be fun to find that. xD

i have a friend who moved away years ago, and he would always send a letter each month with what he was up to, plus throw in a CD of What's In The Player, the music he was digging at the moment. though he got busy with work and life and the CRAB slowly stopped coming, i still go back to them and listen, remerabering the letters that went along with the music. mixed "tapes" just re-inforce for me how much personality and music go hand-in-hand.
