Misused or Misplaced songs in animation

Eh...I wouldn't say it "never" works well. There are times where it seems a bit awkward, I'll give you that. But there are also a number of occasions where it totally gives the scene that extra "oomph" that it needed.

While on the topic of Pokemon..."Brother My Brother" from the first movie.

In the anime Bleach, there are insert songs during battles which are sung by some soul/RB-singer who sounds like Witney Houston. Sounds pretty awkward in such a show.

The Gundam 00 Special Edition compilations are proving a bit random in reusing music and songs from the soundtrack. Alot of scenes now use OP/ED songs or background music that appeared later in the narrative. Opinion has been mixed.

Also, add me as another who hates the trend of 'Entire cast sings licensed song' finales. Comes across as if the writers couldn't craft a decent ending.

The Reservoir Dogs reference in Jazzy and the pussy cats episode of the simpsons where they use little green bag song for Lisa reservoir dog walk.

Hey, in this thread, it was only a matter of time.

The original composer of that movie was Miyazaki Shinji. His work was all thrown out, however, in lieu of an all-new soundtrack that included the aforementioned "Brother My Brother." The original soundtrack didn't have any vocal songs playing during the equivalent scene in the English version.

Quite simply, the scene where the dubbers used "Brother My Brothers" wasn't made with a vocal song in mind. And it shows.

Yeah, I know 4KIDS replaced the Shinji Miyazaki scores. Still, Ralph Shuckett did compose both the replacement BGM and "Brother My Brother", so it is ironic that the one song written by the composer of the movie is the one that's considered the worst.

I like the 4kids version of Pokemon the first movie, and I thought brother my brother fit in well with what was happening on screen.

I can always tell which Pok?mon fans have never watched the Japanese version.

I recapped Pok?mon the First Movie at the Agony Booth forums last year; my thoughts on "Brother My Brother" are perfectly summed up on page eight. (WARNING: Strong language. I can't talk about the 4Kids dub of "Pok?mon" without swearing like a one-eyed carpenter.)

I cant think of any songs that were misused on the top of my head that I thought were out of place. But personally I think El superbeasto "could" fit this.

4kids never knew how to make good music anyways, no comment on that.
