Misused or Misplaced songs in animation

It seemed so tacky and forced being in a Billy & Mandy cartoon. When has pop/classic rock music ever been featured in a Cartoon Cartoon?
 
I agree...While the Gargoyles don't bother me like they do many other people,the happy,upbeat tone of the song just felt so out of place in the film,especially considering what was going on outside of Notre Dame at the time (Frollo rounding up all the gypsies he could find,in his search for Esmeralda,plus his burning down of the home of a family who was harboring gypsies)....
...I like "Court of Miracles" though....both the music and the lyrics..

I liked the songs in Mulan as well ("Reflection" is one of my favorite Disney songs,and I love the animation that goes along with it),though to be fair,I think the movie could've worked just as well without songs...
 
The only song from Mulan that I didn't really care for is "Honor To Us All." It's just kind of boring.

There are a lot of times in the Japanese Pokemon cartoon where the music editors will use the older theme songs as background music. It never works that well, and is especially annoying when they're used excessively (Pokemon Symphonic Medley).
 
Doesn't matter. It always works, wherever. If they played "Round and Round" at someone's grandpa's funeral, everyone would rock out to it.

Anyway, it sounds like it was being used ironically or humorously, not seriously. As Foghorn Leghorn would say, "That's a joke, son. I say, that's a joke son."
 
I highly disagree. Even without the songs, Aladdin isn't the same as Lion King, which isn't the same as Beauty and the Beast, etc.

And how exactly are the songs annoying?
 
I can pretty much tell you that Aladdin, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast would probably be nowhere near as well remembered if they didn't have songs in them.
 
Alvin & The Chipmunks did this a few times.

"Goodbye to You" by Scandal played when they were trying to pull Theodore's loose tooth. "Whip It" by Devo played when a machine started to malfunction. They sang Billy Joel's "Longest Time" to sick kids in a hospital. Maybe the first two work on an abstract level, but that last one leaves me baffled.
 
Oh, I absolutelty agree - my main theory is that it was trying to a pull a Shrek karaoke ending and failed hard. I will admit it was pretty well-sung, though :p
 
Well to be fair, did anybody really expect anything to not be out of place from something called Titanic: The Animated Musical?


My vote goes to most of the songs used in Chicken Little. Wannabe by The Spice Girls, Lollipop by the Chordettes, We Are The Champions by Queen and especially Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Diana Ross. This is the perfect example of what not to do with licensed music in ANY movies period. TOO MUCH.

Three cheers for musical scores. While I have no problem with popular songs being used in movies, i'll actually take a good score over a randomly inserted song anyday.
 
The whole scene is just so clumsily edited.

"If it hadn't been for you I would've been caught up in someone's digestion!"
"We'll there's something you should know so I better tell you so..."
 
Not the same plot and storyline as the other, but each one's own story would not be affected.

All except for Tarzan and The Country Bears!
