Mistral's Daughter, can anyone help?

hi i need some help. i just watched mistral's daughter on a dvd that was in dutch subtitles, the ending shows mistral's daughter (to teddy,) looking around on the walls at his paintings, after he has died.
my mother reckons that years ago she saw a different ending to this 1, an ending that revealed him painting his work and them all looking at his paintings on the ceiling in a church. so if anyone can help that would be brilliant!!!

There's a film version of it, it's the same material but is the miniseries cut down to like two hours from, I think, six hours.

hi , no i think the mini series has to be at least 6 hours. i wondered if there could be 2 different endings? in the film, have you seen the end? my mother says they see mistral going out somewhere all the time but they dont realise where hes going until the end where they see his paintings on the ceiling? do you know ? anyone?
