Mission Impossible Films

Have just read the story about Brad pitt and the Mission: Impossible franchise. The story was supposedly about Paramount looking for a replacement for Tom Cruise now that all ties have been severed. I thought it was actually Cruise that held the rights to Mission: Impossible...

I thought TC owned the rights too. Seem to remember him saying when the first one came out he'd like to see it go on and on, as it focuses on the IMF team rather than one person, like Bond.

I think they should've got rid of Cruise after the first film really, just so it doesn't follow the same character all the time. MI2 was terrible for this (although it wasn't a bad film). MI3 made amenRAB, was a much better film, but still too much focus on one character (but not nearly as much as in MI2)...

Another film would have to be done well, because now it'd seem like there's a hole to fill, which wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been all Tom Cruise in slow motion close-ups with explosions in the background all the time.
