Misleading Trailers?

Has anyone else been caught out by misleading trailers? Firstly I was conned by The Village. The trailer made it look like some creepy horror, but without giving the ending away, the film was nothing of the sort.

Then last night I sat down to watch Secret Window. The trailer, if I remember correctly, made it look like a supernatural film with the "secret window" being some gateway to some other dimension. Of course, if you have seen the film it's just a dull thriller with no supernatural overtones.

Indeed, the trailer even added effects that wern't in the film. There is one bit where the house starts to split in half (all in his mind) but in the trailer they added a blue glow to it to make it look scary. Is this blantantly misleading?
 
I don't think i've seen any misleading trailers. However, I do remember seeing a trailer for Point Break, with Keanu Reeves firing a gun whilst in the passenger seat of Patrick Swayzes moving vehicle. This wasn't in the movie, which was a bit of a let down. It might turn up on the deleted scenes section of the DVD maybe.
 
But The Village and Secret Window were NOTHING like the trailers were suggesting. I like horror, I like supernatural films. They weren't what they said on the tin.

I suppose the only trailer i've come across that's been misleading for me was The Phantom Menace. The trailer I saw made it look like Darth Maul was going to be in the film a great deal, but he really only appeared here and there. Ahh Ray Park, he's the man...oh no, just remembered that horrible line in X-men, when Storm "offed" Ray Parks Toad character. "what happens to ToaRAB when they're hit by lightning.....the same as everything else". eesh.
 
ok.... :( so it might not have been the best of scenes, but to me I thought that shot of keanu shooting the gun was to suggest that Keanus character turns "to the dark side" so to speak, which doesn't really happen.
 
its not trailers misleading me that i find anoying about them its when they spoil the film, for example one of the lotr return of the king ones shows all the ghost solders attacking the elephant like things that spoils the whole film.
 
I prefer not to see trailers at all before a movie that I really want to see - the best example of this for me was T2 back in 1991, which totally blew me away - I suspect (in fact I know, having seen trailers on the DVD) that I would have been slightly lesas blown away and surprised had i'd seen it/them. Same with ither big films - try it, you might like it! Sayting that, saw the Spider-Man 2 trailer and it just enhanced the whole thing - although you do find yourself waiting for the trailer bits. Oh, I dunno, I'll get me coat....
 
As a big horror/gore/supernatural etc fan, I had always wanted to see 'Last House on the Left'. I finally got round to looking it up properly on Amazon, and the cover just made me want it even more - a girl looking terrified in front of a big, looming creepy old house.
It's without doubt one of the worst films ever and I wished I hadn't wasted five-pound-whatever on it. And it had nothing to do with a house whatsoever! :mad: :)

The Village was one for me too - so very disappointed in that.

Can't think of any more at the mo - brain's gone dead. :confused: :yawn: :)
