I knew better but decided to install my new cup holder on my handlebar without covering my tank. Whoopsie, I dropped it and put an 1/8" long dent in the paint on top of the tank. I don't think the metal dented but the finish did. It might as well be a foot long, cuz my eye goes directly to it every time I look at the bike. UUgghh!!!! This feeling will go away in a couple weeks and it is very minor (I can get it fixed easily) but it is the stupidity that ticks me off and I have only me to blame. Share with me your own stupid story, so I don't feel alone in the dumb department.

Today, after my AM ride, was adding Seafoam to the gas & kicked it over in the grass...now I'm sure to have a bare spot right in the front yard...;-)

the best one i did is when i was working on my 70 chevy split bumper camaro, put the grills on it and the grill surround just to see how they looked ,did not screw them on,brother in law came over ,had a couple of stag beers,he said lets run it down the street ,took off down the road ,1/2 mile down the road crunch, yep ran over all of them, jumped out of the car ,sure as shit smashed to pieces.thats mine

Here's one of many for me. I waited two years for my 96 Sportster 1200 to come in. The day it arrived was cold, wet and just a hint of snow in the air. I took the pickup truck and went to the dealer. Unloaded my 93 Sporty trade-in, did the paperwork then loaded up the new one. As was my habit, I grabbed a big handful of tie down straps for each side of the front and pulled. Figured I could get a bit more tension on them if I laid on the tank. You know, to put a bit of weight on the forks. I did, pulled hard on the straps and heard the zipper of my jacket scratch on my brand new, never been ridden, tank. About an inch and a half long almost dead center in the tank.

Took the hard bags off my FLHR to give it a "deep clean" wash in the driveway. Set the bags down on the cement driveway to watch one fall over and scratch the s#$t out of the top of one bag on the corner. Was hoping I could compound it out, no luck...

Was adjusting the primary chain on my Wide Glide and dropped a socket in the primary. Thank goodness I have long fingers...

Same bike, was tightening the piece of sh^t mirrors that constantly came loose and dropped the wrench on the tank. Small paint chip, never did fix it...had a 16 foot fiberglass ladder fall down in the garage onto said Wide Glide and I COULDN'T FIND where it hit the bike. Still scratching my head on that one.

Working on the truck all by myself one day, nobody else home. I proceeded to THOROUGHLY knot up my 18" ponytail in one of the wheels. Took a while to get out from under the truck.

Stripped out a torx screw on my derby cover yesterday before a ride using the wrong size torx. I grabbed the next smaller size by mistake. Damn.
