We got any Symph Black Metal fans in here? if so check out Mirrorthrone, I never listened to any kind of Black Metal before this album (with the exception of a little emperor) and it's INSANELY good, theres only one meraber of the band and he does Drums (probally the best drum machine i've ever heard) guitar, keyboarRAB (can't beat that baroque playing) bass and vocals. he has a really interesting style and it i think kinda turned people off to his first album. but his new one carriers of dust is incredible i've been listening to it non stop for about 3 days now.

I am more of a Power Metal fan, but when it comes to Black Metal, I like only Emperor and Old Man's Child. Although people bash OMC due to their affliation with Dimmu Borgir, who are considered to be a joke by elitists.
However, I like OMC, and they are supposed to be Symphonic Black Metal. Good stuff, actually, they aren't as bad as Cradle of Filth or Dimmu Borgir.

I have been recommended both Drudkh and Vesperian Sorrow, along with stuff like Celtic Frost, Satyricon and Burzum by others. Haven't gotten around to trying them out yet, but I have been meaning to.
the one song that i've heard of mirrorthrone is absolutely incredible! thoroughly one of the best things i've heard in the BLACK METAL style. it definitely is black metal.
i need to hear more of these. i love the french black metal scene at the moment..
the other band that you need to hear is Belenos. they are definitely the best! 'chants de bataille' is one of my favourite ever albums.

satyricon - older stuff is best, but they've changed with the times and still done some great work.
burzum - get 'hvis lyset tar oss' and marvel at the masterpiece that is 'det som engang var', the opening song. pure pure pure genius.

i actuall think it's a shame that dimmu borgir (or dummy burger as some people call them) get such a bad rap, i think they're great, they write fantastic songs.. cradle of filth however deserve burning, dani filth is a knob, and their songs are a waste of time, they've not written a good album since 'dusk and her erabrace'.

none of them are in the same class as emperor, enslaved, windir or belenos though, but hey, not many banRAB of any style are.
