I'm looking at college degrees and trying to find out what I want to do. I have taken music theory/ guitar lessons for about 5 years and can read music, treble and bass. My main instrument is guitar and I am always composing, practicing, learning new theory. I really want to take it to the next level when i'm in college and learn about composing in classical music with orchestral instruments. Also, learning of compositions from different areas of the world and styles of music. Am I ready? I know a lot of theory, I am going to start taking piano lessons to help me become more proficient in that instrument and my theory is only getting more broad all the time and I have a year and a half before college. Please help!
I can handle a workload. I make all A's and am very capable of hard material, strong work ethic. I'm starting to get into Jazz and am studying and composing it with my teacher. Where should I be at with theory for college entry level?
