Minor characters the writers are unjustly cruel to

What minor characters do you feel the writers are mean spiritedly cruel to for no good reason? We all know of characters like Tom (Tom And Jerry), Wily E. Coyotee, the Trix rabbit, etc. But now it is a turn of the lesser know, less important victoms to get their due.

These characters aren't villains or heros, they just normal citizens, that the writers love to pick on and in most cases with meaneess behind it. Since they are secondary characters, it largely unnoticed. A couple of examples I thought of.

Veronica (Fairly Odd Parents) - The writers just love to make her the butt of the cruel jokes, and rarely does she do anything to deserve it like Vicky or Mr. Crocker (as an adult, the stuff that happend to Crocker when he was a kid he didn't deserve), nor does she get any pay back like Timmy does.

Jun (Digimon) - Davis sister in the second season (I don't think her name as an "E" at the end). The main characters always try to ditch her, and shows no regard for her feelings. When the older Digidestined went on their fake camping trap, they do anything to ditch her, Matt's father rightfully scolds the boys for their cruality, but it falls on death ears. In all of the five seasons, the writers have never been these crual to a non villain character. At least in the above case of Veronica, the FOP fanbase feels sorry for her. Most of the Digimon fan base thinks she has it coming.

PS: sorry for the typo in the title thread.

"Crawl"? "Crewl"? Don't you have spell check? But bad spelling of the word "cruel" aside, I can name one, and I'm sure all of us can agree...

Meg (from Family Guy): Seriously, what has this character done to deserve this treatment? Ever since this show was revived, the character has been ignored and mistreated, among other things.

I agree. no arguement there. Though she does borderline weather or not she is a minor character or not being part of the main family, I am willing to say that Meg and Chris are minor supporting characters.

But lets remember these are supporting minor characters were are talking about. Characters that are often over looked.

South Park: Pip and Butters, both was often humilated or even injuried or in the case of Butters, grounded often by his parents.

Dave, the tree stump kid from “Yin Yang Yo!”, is usually the target of such humor. In the first season, he was routinely abused and chopped in half; the second season has treated him somewhat better, but he is still subjected to such treatment. Dave isn’t perfect and he has on some occasions deserved to be treated in such a poor manner, but more often than not, he’s minding his own business when he's degraded.

However, I believe that it’s the subtle acts of cruelty that are often the most impressionable. In the episode of “Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends” entitled “Mac Daddy”, the scene with Crackers really tugged at my heartstrings. It was meant to be a joke, but the way that the character ran away crying after being turned down for adoption was just so sad.

Here's an example that's actually quite funny. The writers of "The Simpsons" continue to maim and murder Hans Moleman in various bizarre ways, and according to the DVD commentaries, it's because Matt Groening was so repulsed by the character's design the first time he saw him that he never wanted to see him again. So in response, they keep having some form of fatal misfortune befall him whenever he's on screen.

From what I seen, it is the other kids mostly Tad in that clique that does that. She is just there. Only time I recall her picking on anybody, was making fun of Timmy for being naked in the public pool, and not that it makes it any better, she did that indepently without the other popular kids help, and she only did that to cover up her crush on Timmy.

I understand where you are coming from, but she is the less guilty of them all, and the characters that excute the punishment are the other popular kids, eventully it gets to a point that enough is enough. It is just overkill by those writers. She doesn't that much punishment, she is not Vicky.

One that stands out for me is Meg Griffen. Family Guy has been terrible since its revival, and one of the big reasons why is because the new episodes consist of a bunch of unfunny gags strung together. If they would take characters like Meg and develop them and use them in a focused, coherent plot, the show would be much better. Instead, they pointlessly attack Meg for no reason.

Add me to the "Meg Griffin" list, I don't find any of the abuse and hatred she gets from her own family entertaining at all...especially when, in earlier eps, they (at least Lois from what I've seen) tried to help her out and be there for her....it seems like, in the eps before it got revived, the Family Guy family used to be a loving family...

What happened?

The FG writers started in with the Meg-bashing because they admit to having no clue how to write for teenage girls; they literally don't know what else to do with Meg.

But as was stated above, this thread is about minor characters, and besides there's already a thread for discussing the state of Family Guy.

They'd have to be smoking something pretty strong the think the average 16-year-old girl would watch that show. Why can't they just age Meg so she can grow up and get away from that cuckoo family of hers?

Am I the only person here who doesn't care about Meg? I actually think the Meg bashing is pretty funny

Has anyone mentioned Zoidberg yet? He's always getting the short end of the stick one way or another.

At least two or three members mention Veronica from FOP, and yet none of them remember Binky as well? The poor guy just appears on screen and gets whatever is approaching :P

I've said ti before and I'll say it again: Invader Skoodge.

In his first few seconds of screen time.

"Oh, now that's just sad!"
"Could you GET any SHORTER?"
"You will be assigned to Blorch, home of the Slaughtering Rat People people. Thank You".

I don't care for Meg. I'm not a big enough fan to care for any of the characters except Stewie. (Stewie crying is the most adorable thing I've ever seen on Family Guy) I occasionally find some of the Meg bashing funny.

And I agree about Butters being treated cruely, although, that doesn't mean I want the writers to stop him being used like a mental punching bag. Everyone taking abuse of Butters and him barely getting any light in the end but he's still able to keep a smile is what makes Butters... you know, Butters.

The Meg bashing was ok at first but the writers went way overboard on it way to quickly. I went from hating Meg to feeling sorry for her because of all the pointless bashing she got in the show. No character deserves what she got.
