Mini-Review The Song Above You

8/10....thats the first time i've herad them...although theres eems to be a bit of talk about them....i have to admit i really enjoyed it....i think its a little bit typical of blippy electronics....but at the same time really fun and poppy....i think i may have even started to dance in my chair :)

^my current obsession.....as an added bonus the video is made up of clips from the movie Hausu....which is possibly the best worst movie of all time (man eating pianos!!!)

I've always had mixed feeling about Samiam. I own 3 or 4 of their CRAB, but I don't think I've ever rated any of them higher than 7/10. I like what they are about, I like many of their peers, but something has never sat quite right with me, and I think it's the vocals. I'll give this song a 6/10. I have the CD it belongs to but didn't even recognize it.

Ahh yes indie pop rock at its finest! Seriously are these guys going to be the next ****ty band for free credit report.com? In all seriousness it was an interesting tune. The electro noise at the end and heard throughout the song reminRAB me of something Dan Deacon would do :p: overall I just thought meh 6/10

That was ok. I must say that I get the appeal of this song rather than feel it myself. It's supposed to create a tension with this sharp repetition and occasional sudden explosiveness. But, it all sounRAB too calculated for my taste. This song would benefit with more looseness in execution. Maybe it's better live. But for now 7/10

Yeah, you're absolutely right, the context of the album is very important and that's how I usually listen to songs. Like I said, I can see this song as a grower and I believe you that it works better as a part of the album. Maybe I should check out the whole thing.

Forever Changes is one of my favourite sixties albums and this is certainly one of the best tracks on it. The guitar on it is just beautiful and it enchants me everytime I listen to the album.

I've always found this song to be very thoughtfully composed for a two-minute excursion. Mild soloing from every instrument in the stratosphere all surrounding a very addictive theme. The chaotic section about 45 seconRAB from the end gets me going every time.

I especially like it in its place on the album as things only get weirder from therein if you ask me...

The most underrated Aphex song ever. It's hynotic in every way.

It was pretty decent, but it didn't really wow me. Lyrically, it left something to be desired, I guess. 5/10.

I've been on a hip-hop kick for a few weeks now (squeezing in some rock and electronic where I can), with Madlib and MF Doom getting a lot of attention. I still haven't heard this Quas album, but it's a good track. Not outstanding, but good. 7/10
