Yes you get all those benefits for you and your family, but they come at a high cost.
You will be gone alot and when home you may also be gone for shorter amounts of time. You are asking to join the branch that is the least family friendly and the branch that has the highest divorce rate. Think about that.
If I were you since you have a wife and kid I would look at another branch. There is nothing wrong with the USMC, it's just better if you are single.
Keep in mind that you come second and your needs are not always a priority. Do not look at the USMC as a place to go to get away from your life now. You better really want to be a Marine first at all cost.

i been wanting to join the marines since i was a kid and now i have a wife a lil boy on the way,and i have a job i hate.the town i live in has nohing to offer unless you wana top out as a chicken catcher.i want to join i know what i qualify for but i feel like i will be abanding my wife and kid if i do.but my wife is all for it and is encouraging about it. i just wonder if the benfits the military offers is as good as thay say as far as housing and insurance and free traing and stuff i would really like to hear from people with military expierence not just those who think thay know.
