Ok...Story Time...

Going to college ..in my first semester...but I was talked into staying home instead of the military...

its not that im lazy...its just i live in a stagnant town..and i get this wird feeling that im capable of doing more with my life...

so in HS powerlifting the coach made me gain 25 lbs to get up to a heavy weight last year..never lost it...turns out...now im 25 lbs over the weight limit for the US Navy...

i can lose the weight easily...but i was wondering how long from the moment i sign a contract is it until i can ship to basic?
average wait time?
id say i can lose the weight within 2 months...

does you think ther is a possibility of squeezing in before the summer?

and i know it depends on the job...i was going to go corpsman (studying physical therapy) but found out they go to war...which im kinda...trying to stay far from

Any tips...the recruiter told me spots open up all the time...and im def trying to beat the HS graduation rush in the summer...

now I know a girl who joined the Marines and shipped withing the month

this is what really sparked my interest...

srry about the ramble...

but any tips comments greatly appreciated...

Soooo...you're basically wondering if you'll be able to go to basic before the summer of 2010 if you go to MEPS and sign a contract in JAN. 2010? Definitely!!!! I've known people that have shipped out to basic as soon as 2weeks all the way to as long as 1yr. Just talk to your recruiter and tell him you want to be a quick ship. Also, once at the MEPS station, let the person that's doing your contract/mos know you want to be a quick ship, they'll make it happen.

25lbs in 2 months is ambitious but not impossible.

The wait time depends most likely on the available slots of your MOS. I signed my contract last week for the Army and my ship date is January 20.

I'd say you will at least get a month or two.

Running and sprinting from this day out should be your new best friends.

Not ALL corpsman go to war, if in fact they do, they are not front line unless they choose that field (FMF for example, etc..) You're physical therapy which I highly doubt is a front line career in the NAVY.

I'm not really sure what you're asking. Are you trying to find out if you'll loose weight by ship date??? Sure. If you set your mind to it. 25lbs overweight isn't much. It's so much faster for men to lose weight than for women. I say get off your booty and start working out! I know recruit offices have PT on the weekends like Saturday mornings. You can train from that and do PT on your own time..

If you are a corpsman and over weight they won't send you with he marines since you have to be fit enough for combat. Navy basic is a joke i am sure you can pass it your lil sister could probably pass it lol. My advice to you if you want to make some money in rtc great lakes learn how to iron military creases so you can charge your shipmates for ironing their clothes. Trust me that is what i did. in 2002 when i went to basic. The people that you will meet in basic will not be your friends in the navy so just what you got to do. People are going to need squared away uniforms and you will need money for new clothes once you will finish basic so make them pay for it and use your basic pay money as an investment for a computer for your A school.
