Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (handled so badly)

I love this, a discussion about the Power Rangers film....I remember when it came out, I could barely contain myself, I had to have everything associated with it! Sticker books, toys, the lot! :D

The film was ok generally, the changes due to more budget were perhaps to be expected but it just seemed just so very epic, especially for an 11 year old Mickstar... :D

I actually had a crush on Kimberly back in those days, looking back at it now Jason and Tommy were quite the dish...LOL, how times have changed! :o

Now I remember it, the introduction of Kat was epic. Zed always seemed to like mind control for some reason, but her mind control arc lasted so long orignally I didnt know where they were going with it and it was like she'd forgotten she was a good person :(

I was far too old to like Power Rangers the first time round (14 or 15), but isn't it strange how it's socially acceptable to like kiRAB' shows once you're an adult?

Anyway, I concur with everyone who says that Mighty Morphin was the best of the lot - and specifically Mighty Morphin before Jason, Zach and Trini were put on a bus to the peace conference. Tommy was my favourite, but as the other originals dropped off one by one the vibe just wasn't the same. And the chemistry between Tommy and Kim was vastly more convincing than Tommy/Kat.

I actually loved the film. I thought back then that in years to come it would eventually crop up as a Saturday afternoon kiRAB' movie that could be watched entirely out of context (given that in the canon of the show The Movie Did Not Happen), and I stand by that, even though today's kiRAB have probably seen whatever the latest version is.

And a guilty pleasure: watching videos on YouTube of people trying to play the theme tune on Guitar Hero. Crazy.

Yep, his name was Justin, and he was the blue Turbo ranger. I always thought it was silly to have a kid ranger, and then he just elongated after morphing.

The timing of the film's release was bad for UK viewers because it was set after episodes that hadn't been shown here. We didn't know where the new Red, Black and Yellow Rangers had come from and it also made Tommy's return to the show, as the White Ranger, lack any surprise!

I don't think darkness would be right for Power Rangers! It was always able to do drama and suspense (Tommy's losing his powers! Again!) without having to be gritty or (snigger) realistic.

The 'remastered' version of MMPR that they're showing in the States now just seems to have been given a bit of a '60s Batman treatment with the kapows and dodgy visual effects. Do not want!

If they just cleaned up the eps then fine but I dont like the dodgy wooshy and kapow noises. I smell Red Dwarf "Remastered" :( :o

How did it go in the movie? In the TV show it went:
Mastadon (Zack)
Teradactyl (Kim)
Triceratops (Billy)
Sabre Toothed Tiger (Trini)
Tyranasaurus (Jason)
Then later:
Dragonzord/Tigerzord (Tommy)

I noticed Tommy's voice when saying "Tigerzord" was so muffled!
