I'm a musician and I use MIDI in some music software. A while back it worked, but then it stopped working one day. Today I brought my computer to the Geek Squad, but they said its a problem that can't be done in-store. But I'm not paying over $120 for then to come to my house. My MIDI cable was plug-n-play, soit didn't have a specific driver. After I left Best Buy, I went to the music store and bought another Usb MIDI cable with a disc to download the specific driver. I downloaded it, but it still doesn't work. I'm really frustrated at this point. I've done somuch research, but still no help.I've thought maybe its the computer's sound card driver, Realtek, that's causing the problem. I've thought maybe I should roll back the update for that. Or maybe do system restore, but would I lose my files and software? Are can I buy the lil hard drive u find in Walmart and then put all my files and stuff on there, then reset my computer to factory settings, then put my stuff back on there? But if I do that could I re-download my software onto my computer? Idk what to do. Please help. It seems like a helpless problem, and idk where I would get money to get my computer fixed by a technician. Thanks!
