MIDI cable and keyboard ?

So Im using FL 9 (Fruity Loops) for my Digital piano keyboard.
Im using an input/output to sub MIDI cable, and managed to connect the instrument to the software.
The only issue is the sound I get on the software when I press a key is a 'click' rather than the note.
How can I get the sound of the note when I press the key rather than the 'Click' I'm hearing?
