bacterial growth in broth?
We inoculated them with E. coli, P. aeruginosa, and S. marcescens. So, three different tubes, not all in one.

I know we starte out with a transparent sterile broth. Also, it was dark yellow, and had no surface film or sediment.

they'll all go cloudy. e.coli is more or less colorless. S. marcescens is pink (like the pink stuff you get on shower curtains)
dunno abuot P.a. - maybe it smells different from E.coli.

ermmm....
It depends of what experiment you are doing

If it is a negative control... perfect

If you inoculated with something... and didn't grow... you gotta understand why it didn't ,,, if there was nothing in the broth that could stop the bacteria from growing you assume the bacteria is inviable.

You really could be more especific on you experiment
