"Michiko to Hatchin" - Talkback (Spoilers)

It's being done by Studio manglobe, who did Samurai Champloo and Ergo Proxy. It's being created by one of the episode directors and storyboarders for both of those shows. What is interesting is that even though Shinichiro Watanabe isn't involved with the animation aspect, he's the music producer for the show. So, even if the plot isn't that good, I'm sure the music will probably be great.

I'll keep my eyes on this show.
 
um, it doesn't appear to be licensed. If Funimation picks it up, it would probably end up on IFC or somewheres else.

I like Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, but don't know if I'd like this series.

Bumping this because the second trailer is up. And it has actual footage from the show. It looks interesting and something to keep an eye on for this Fall season.
 
Wow, from that second trailer, this show may be almost as, if not, as good as Cowboy Bebop! I'm definitely watching this now!
 
You can't go wrong with the plot of Striptease mixed into a Tarantino-esque desert bar setting...as long as it stays in Anime World and never crosses over to Hollywood.

And while we're on the subject of heavily action-oriented animes, I wonder whatever happened to that big spy/espionage anime that was supposed to replace Afro Samurai on Spike? The one where everybody was named after a weapon (Gun, Whip, Sword, etc.?)
 
Yeah, that was the best part. I was hoping she would do the same to the boy as well.

Good episode. Nice set-up for the characters and I'm interesting on where the two leaRAB go next.
 
I can't believe I just watched an anime because Shinichiro Watanabe is the music producer. But I did, and... the music was good! But I'd rather he direct another series and have Yoko Kanno do the music or something. That hasn't been done, has it? But this was surprisingly good. It felt like one of his works all around, especially the opening and ending. I don't like it as much as Shikabane Hime yet, but I'll probably check more out as it comes out.
 
Watched it last night.
Very stylish and I like the musical choices. So far it runs a lot like classic exploitation films, which I guess where all the Tarantino comments come from. Still, style isnt everything. Hopefully they give us watchers a decent plot to keep up with the flair.
 
so i just saw episode two, Michiko isnt Hana's mother after all, but shes looking for the Hana's father, which shes in love with, Hana being the only evidence of him being not having died 11 years ago, since she is 9.

and Jurabo or Atsuko or whatever, i guess shes suppose to be the Zenigata of this series?

and that fiendish old man, its now that he comes up with killing Hana for the insurance money?, hes had 9 years and it just hits him!?, besides that, i dint think he or his family would be recurring characters.
 
If Hana was still alive, they'd continue to get a check every month/year/whatever. Since it looks like Hana's not sticking around...time to collect on the life insurance.

More of a 'Dont kill the goose that lays the golden egg' thing.
