Sistine Chapel opened to the public for the first time 500 years ago this week.
Have you ever seen them? It's an amazing experience.
Here's how to do it:
1
Get in the Vatican Museum line an hour before it opens.
2
Once inside, walk very quickly to the Sistine Chapel [it will be in the brochure...better yet, figure this out before you even go into the Vatican Museum].
3
For about 20 minutes, it will be dead quiet until the throng of tourists arrive. During this time, you will be treated to one of the most sublime experiences imaginable, even if you are not religious.
4
Once everyone else arrives you will immediately be glad that you had come early!
A friend told me:
"I cannot imagine standing in line at a museum an hour before it opens".
I responded
"I cannot imagine standing in line at the Apple Store overnight, to buy the next iPhone model, but people do that too!"
