Michelangelo he painted the sistine chapel?

I'm sure I read in a book and probably watched tv programme about Michelangelo that the painter was gay is this true did he have any lovers that we know of? The man was a genius and the Sistine Chapel is beautiful and would love to see in person.

I've read that it's possible he was. The speculation comes solely from his art and writings. He dedicated 100s of love poems to a man and after his death, his nephew published many of them with the male pronouns changed to female. However, love poems written from one man to another were not uncommon at the time and often a part of friendship. He had a similar realtionship with a woman, so who knows. His earliest biographer (who knew him) called him monk-like, in reference to his sex life.

The fact that he may or may not have been gay shouldn't influence if or if not you should see one of the most beautiful paintings in the world.
If you get the chance to go see it don't worry about something like that.

I never read that, but what of it? I mean, how would it change your perception of his art? he was a deeply religious man who was at odds with his own church. Art was his gift from God,aand he shared it with all. What else do we need to know?
